Working with multiple domains

Is there a benefit to buying multiple domains for the same content? If so, does one domain 301 redirect to the other or do both serve the same content with canonical URLs to one domain?

Why would you 301 them? Makes no sense.
They have no record of being online, yet you think
a redirect is going to magically do something? What?

Why would you put the SAME content on the different websites?
    That makes no sense.

Of course having multiple domains (websites) with the same
type of content in the same niche is what the big boys do.
They funnel and feed off of each other.

Your question is froth with nonsense.

I am not getting what you are trying to achieve here.
Posting the same content in the multiple domains is a very bad idea.

Though I didnt get what is your goal actually, but posting same content on various domains is useless. If it is your brand url then you can buy some other common extensions like .net .org .info etc and can 301 redirect to avoid misleads in future.

If you are trying to buy some other domains for blogging purposes then it can a good idea, but you should not post same content on these websites.

Lots of professional bloggers use two to three blogs on same niche with different goals. But the ultimate question might be, what you want?

One horse sized duck or lots of duck sized horse?

I think It's a good idea I you fad a very popular domain name, like google.com , then buying others, like gogle.com would make sence.
