In my dashboard, the image shows what I believe is my HOME page? If yes, I wish to work on the Title but I am also seeing a field named 'Tagline' and I am not understanding that, does the tagline info show on google please or should I leave it blank please?

Thanks but can anyone confirm that this is indeed my Home page? If yes, I am not seeing a 'description' field to edit the page's description?

The homepage is the page that you define as the homepage. What you are looking at is just basic settings for Wordpress.

The tagline is only important if you are allowing the tagline to be displayed in the header. If you are replacing the header text with a graphic/logo, it won't be displayed (in most themes).

Alright, let me take this from the start please. I go into my WP dashboard and click on PAGES, as the attached shot shows the "HOME-Front page", this is the page I wish to start doing the SEO on so I click on the hat page's EDIT button but when I go the EDIT page where I can edit that page's content, I am not seeing the field to edit Title and Description. So guys, my question is where do I get to edit the Title and description for that Home page in my dashboard please?

          Go to Settings > General

Note, this setting applies on all headers across the board not just the home page.
To not have this happen you will have to edit the templates.

The Tagline is the description for the whole site.
For individual page <meta> descriptions you need a Plugin like AIO SEO, unless you're good at coding.

Some of us prefer to leave descriptions out, and let Big G pull the the text it deems suitable for the search query used.

Attachments don't work on this forum for some reason. We can't download them.

Unfortunately you need something like a theme that takes this in account, or a plugin such as Yoast SEO or All in one SEO pack to really change the titles and meta descriptions. WordPress is stupid like that.

    What's your excuse?

The General Settings is exactly that. It is general settings for the entire Wordpress site.

To make any specific changes to a page, you need to go to that page.

If you do not see an option to change the title and description of a page, click on the "screen options" drop down at the top right of the page and make sure you check all the boxes. Then scroll down again and see if it is there. If it is not, your theme doesn't support it on its own and you need to install a plugin like Yoast or All-in-One to do it.

On a side note, 7 plugins that are not updated is a huge security risk.

Alright so if I am understanding this correctly guys, only way I can have an option to edit the description field is to install the AIO SEO plugin since the YOAST plugin does not offer this option, is this correct please?

      No.

It is right there in Yoast. Scroll over the Snippet Editor (from the image you posted).

You can modify the Title and meta description right there.

Oh wait a minute Mike, I was expecting to see 2 separate "fields" with one labelled Title and another Description but from your answer I am guessing the contents in the snippet are the title description and URL? Also that as in the attached shot, the info below the url is the description and the info above the url is the title, is this correct please?

You can't. You have to wait until the next time Google crawls and indexes your site. Even then, Google can choose not to use your title or your description.

        It's right here.

        Computer Repair NYC

You need to include the full URL.

Looks like for some reason the cache command is not working in the Google search bar. Maybe they are working on something. Certainly a bug.

I just type it in where the URL goes in the Chrome browser. The other way you can find it is if you pull up your site in the SERP and click the little down arrow beside the URL. There is an option in the dropdown that says "cache".
