Need help Regarding 404 Error

Hello Guys,

I am owner of wordpress website. I recently log in to my google webmaster tool and found that my websites has more than 340 links are not found. One of my friend suggested me to use 404 Redirection plugin for my wordpress site and redirect all those 404 pages to home page.

What do you think is this ok or not??

    Do you know the cause of this error? It's possible that you have moved a lot of page locations due to a rebuild or something. Is this the case?

    Ideally if you have just rebuilt your site you should do a page by page 301 redirect from old location to new so that you keep your rankings. A site wide 404 redirect to homepage won't offer much help in that area.

    Far better to put content back on the pages that are 'not found' and get them re-indexed.
