To what extent does social bookmarking and directory listing affect the organic ranking of a site, directly? Or is there any other efficient and quick means of Off- Page SEO other than these two that will get the job done?

  • if the links are nofollow which i'm almost 100% certain they will be you will not gain any ranks from these. Google the word NoFollow and DoFollow. You will figure out why it matters to build links on dofollow instead of nofollow. Now that is out of the way you can certainly get direct traffic from building such links. No the user will not find you through the search engines but they can find you from the website you listed your link on. Some traffic is better then no traffic my friend. But if i was you i would be focusing on getting relevant backlinks that the search engines will follow
