Link building is outdated. Don't bother

The only way to build links is to publish content that is good enough to draw natural linking. I never did much link building in the past and gave up on it altogether around two years ago. You could undo all the hard work of link building if Google identifies them as non-natural links. All that time and effort will be wasted.

    I hear you.

In 2016, the name of the game is EARNING LINKS not building them.

      Well said buddy!

Based on experience from a previous SEO company I worked with. We had to close out a handful of websites and made room for just one that we newly poured high quality content. Along with great content and the experience of massive link building, the return was really great. We ranked the new site easier than compared to a site that only have shit content.

Great content works with you naturally. It spreads and grows naturally. The link building part will only be supplement to it.

So let me get this straight, you agree with the guy who says don't build links but you built links and the return was great. Ok.

I disagree. You can still be proactive in your approach, it's just that most people suck at building a decent site or writing anything of value that some one would want to link to.

People will still want to link to your site if you ask them the right way.

Also, you can write for other peoples blogs, but this takes work. Jon Morrow had success very quickly because he learned who the players were in his market, studied their posts and then approached them. He approached some big players like copyblogger and the links from that site catapulted him very quickly. Neil Patel did the same thing.

Check out the links I posted, I think they're great resources on this subject.

    God Bless,
    Elmo

Difference between building links, and not building links, is 80% of your income.

Want to make 80% more income? Build backlinks to your sites.

Especially if they're already earning enough without doing any link building.

The whole "build it and they will come" / earning links thing is a recipe for disaster.

So what ur saying, is not to build links , even if u have a brand new site?
So ur logic is make site, add content frequently >>> hope someone visits your site and actually makes you a backlink?
Seems like a plan , u go on do that, while others rank and bank till wait for you first wisitor which makes u a link

Link building is certainly not dead, but I agree with most of my predecessors on the changed nature of link building in 2016, as compared to the late 90s/earyly 2000s.

Effective link building according to my SEO in raipur has to be nowadays either a) personal or b) content related; or both. ;-) Since backlinks still count for Google to determine a site's relevance, this basically means that building links to boost your SERPs is still a valid method in SEO. (however, you can read here why you should do link building even beyond any Google concerns)

In short, I would point to content marketing and PR/outreach as the two methods to complete your link building habits with.

    Right.
You said right but I always create natural links that's why I am not scared of link building strategy.
It is helpful for me and my clients.

    Meh

    A) half the people saying don't link build have links in their sig so that tells you everything you need to know.

    B) two different definitions are in this thread - some are defining it as placing links yourself and some are including anything you do that encourages someone to link to you naturally.

In professional SEO Link building is anything you do that generates a link back to your site whether you place it or the webmaster places it naturally

It will never be outdated since the entire internet is based on links

Linkbuilding works but is just one aspect of what you need to get rank, on the other hand natural links are the ideal but not always realistic, you could have success with natural links and also you could keep waiting all your life for the dreamed blogger to put your link in his site :-) easier and faster to rent or buy few backlinks from high pr relevant sites.
