A few questions about the Google 'dance'

Hi all,
I recently had a very new site on mine get to page 1 on Google, before (today) being completely de-indexed. I assume this is just the Google 'dance' that's been mentioned a few times (and discussed briefly in one of the PDFs that comes in Angela's backlinks). But just to check, I have a few queries about this:

1) Is the Google dance only for very new websites (as in < 1 week old sites)?

2) How long does it tend to last?

3) Is it normal for (new) sites to completely get de-indexed whilst this process occurs?

I think that's it; any information on this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Tristan

Well at first I thought is was google dancing but my site ended up being put into the sandbox or receiving a penalty. So be forewarned!

The google dance usually refers to a site popping up and down for example page 1 then page 3 then back to page 1.

In your case, your site just disappeared. I have had this happen to an affiliate product site. I just dropped it. I have since learned that if I had kept at it the site likely would have come back up. Google wants to know if your site is a flash in the pan. If it is a real site it will stay there rankings or no rankings. If it is an opportunistic IM site (which google hypocritically dislikes) it will likely disappear since without G rankings it has no purpose in life.

That both makes sense, thanks for the information

I'll keep at the site for the time-being then and see how it goes.
