Building a new website and am wondering how many articles for SEO purposes is the right amount to start?

Is there such a thing as too many, if so how many?

And how many is a good amount to add per week or month?

I would use the general seo article

    keyword in title
    keyword every 100 words
    keyword in the last sentence.

However, I would focus more on connecting your content to social networking and media sites, and making your content more viral with great titles, good content, and excellent distribution methods. .

Don't focus on quantity. Post little but something of value

You can start a new site with as many or as few as you like, but you want to give the search engines something to crawl from the off, so as a guide 5 to 10 pages plus your policy docs is a reasonable number, that's not set in stone, you can publish any amount, but spreading it out and posting regularly may help with faster indexing, because the SE's crawl rate may increase, thus your stuff gets found more quickly.

Add as many articles a week/month as you can write, because if you are doing them properly it won't be that many, but your content does not all have to be written articles, there are many other forms of content.

One word of advice before you write anything... plan and categorize your content/keywords, i.e. create website silos.

Focus on quality of article than quantity. What you write, is useful to users or not is more important. Write unique, fresh useful articles that can get more shares from the readers.

        Articles don't rank pages.

Optimized text & followed links rank pages but the text doesn't have to be articles.

When you say SEO articles I can only imagine you've hired the lowest bidder to crank out keyword stuffed pages, which is the opposite of SEO.

Where did you find the idea of SEO articles? That's usually a sales pitch.

It is all over this forum and Google, articles of 500+ words with keywords etc.

As you are now talking about something different from your original post, check out this site for a good example of a highly ranked site with bugger-all content... dafont.com

                See?

Stuff gets parroted around, and sometimes it often isn't true.

Don't go over quantity, add less number of articles, but whatever you add that should have some value. Visitor should find the article effective and they should feel interest. In one word, build authority with your articles.

There is no limit to the number of articles you can post. However, I wouldn't recommend more than one per week. Sometimes, it requires a bit more time for your readers to access and go through your content. Furthermore, it allows you to promote them properly. Have in mind that people do not have time to read posts each and every day. At the same time, you should at last make a several articles per month so that you remain visible. It also depends on industry.

Dude... Do you mean quality content that you can rank or rubbish BS content that will get you penalized?

If you want real content try these:

      constant-content.com
      textbroker.com
      writeraccess.com
      freelancer.com
      upwork.com

Expect to pay .05-.15 cents a word for quality content.
      Or write it yourself.

You might be able to find a sweet spot where you are paying less then .05, but then have to edit the content and make it "publishable." If you choose to go this route, I highly suggest grammar.ly (the premium version.) I still suggest you pay 2-3 cents a word or it will be complete garbage. No respectable writer is going to write for less then that. At least at 2 cents, a freelancer can bust out an article in 30-40 minutes and make a decent amount, but you really need to feed them 2-4 examples and keep your requirements to a bare minimum. This only really works for basic articles. If you expect somebody to write a technical 500 word article for 10$ you're going to get garbage as well. It needs to be topics average people know about and won't have to do much research other then reading your examples/resources.

#1 This doesn't really matter, when I was doing static sites I would do 10-20 pages mainly because it was less work that way, since I have to mass edit every page when I updated the site. Having all the category pages setup meant that I only needed to edit a handful of pages. I don't do static sites anymore since updating them to mobile responsive sites was a pain, so I just converted them to WP sites. If it's a WP site, just start with 1 page like normal bloggers do.

#2 No. Maybe if you publish 100+ a day or something insane. Good luck even putting 100 articles into WP in a day. If the content is pre-written and edited, I doubt I could do more then 4-5 an hour. There's still a bunch of jacking around in WP to set the category, upload images, featured image, meta descriptions, possibly add in links, bold, italics, oh and fix the formatting of the new lines (FML...)

#3 1 a day seems great to me. Sometimes I just do 1 a week, but I run a bunch of sites, so 1 a week per site. If you want the site to be big, 3-10 a day. The rate you publish content matters far less then the quality and value of it. It's also highly recommended that you mention that you made a new post on your ideally developed social media properties with real followers and people who want to read your content. I don't suggest spamming the crap out of them with 10 updates a day. Some people post once or twice a month and their sites make 20k/month. Some sites post 30 times a day, but it takes a team of people to accomplish that.

I think for the beginning it's enought to post once a day. Create unique usefuk content, work on increasing of the traffic and then you can gradually increase the number of articles.
