BHW have got half a million links and a solid link profile.

They didn't start out building links. The owner set up thousands of fake user accounts then either outsourced or botted user interaction. If you look at webarchive you can see just weeks after being up they were boosting fake referals like crazy.

Not even sure the members over there today are real.

Not how I remember it... BHW started out fairly advanced and then they were flooded with noobs and spammers as the site became popular. Now the public side offers very little value compared to what it used to be.

All successful forums go that way eventually... you have to fight entropy to avoid it.

Can you tell us where you are right now?
From there we can better say if you are on the track or have derailed.
You can't just come out of the blue to out match them.
