Do the links that point to a url which is redirected pass the juice over to the redirected page? or does the link juice just stop at the url it was originally pointing to...?

I think it passes the link juice on as I recently purchased a course that involved an SEO technique involving redirecting from one URL (to which a bunch of backlinks are pointed to) to your money site. The theory is that this is safer than having the backlinks point directly to the money site. A bit.ly link is used in place of the site to which the backlinks point and it is supposed to cleanse any bad backlinks and not pass on any bad SEO juice.

I don't think that is true.. it would not discriminate between good link juice and bad link juice. Either it passes the juice on or it doesn't.

  • A 301 redirect will pass anywhere from 80-90% link juice.
