I've just started a business and am a partner with another. The Search ranking is not very high and I would like to rank higher. I would like advise on how this is done? One is for an e-commerce site and the other we need to generate leads for a company.
Any advise is appreciated

This probably isn't what you or most search engine optimizers want to hear but it's something you need to accept:

The only way to consistently and reliably generate lots of organic traffic is to make sure your sites have what your intended audience is looking for.

If your site does not have that, visitors will bounce off your site and the rankings of your site will drop.

This might mean creating content that satisfies/helps those searching for information.

You said you want to "build SEO" without putting out much money... the best way to do that in my opinion is to create high quality content that users love.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Thank you! We have been building content and trying to keep things fresh - maybe we should be looking into quality of content, not so much quantity!

You're not necessarily saying that there's a relationship, but I just want to make this clear: bounce rate in general isn't a ranking factor. It may be an indicator of problems, or not.

To OP: you need backlinks. If you already have some good content try to focus on link building. And I'm not talking the manual link spam or Fiverr route here, but good links from decent sites.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

I was actually looking into this today, and had considered Fiverr, why is that not recommended? Aside from the fact it is more for blogs or individual posts... I was thinking of linking that way.
autoloanguys.ca is the site I am talking about and I have content, but no links as of yet.

You're paying someone $4 for the service. That doesn't cover any of the costs that would be associated with running a proper link service. Most likely they're publishing crap on their own properties, posting spam comments, creating forum profiles, or doing some other form of pointless backlinking.

Fiverr is spam links built by bots. You will get junk links from webpages that have been blasted with massive spam. They sell the same links to all their buyers, so If you see a fiverr gig selling links & that gig has 2,000 buyers (example) that means they've sold that same backlink 2,000 times which is obvious, which is a red flag for Google.

The worst fiverr gig I've seen is a single webpage with over 7,000 backlinks on a single page (not even exaggerating).

Fiverr is a shot in the foot for SEO.

BTW, the URL you've posted doesn't work.

Ive recently started back linking myself, turning out to be a tedious task. I was tempted for a bit to try fiverr, it sounds good and workable. But nothing is as good as it sounds these days. After doing research on fiverr gigs like that i found the same thing, hurts your rankings and can cause red flags for google. But is there any alternative ways for backlinking that are a bit easier and less time consuming?

Some little tricks im missing? I know ill still have leg work to do, im not that lazy but perhaps theres a better way i havent found.

Unfortunately easy means that spammers and hobbyist "link builders" are there too, and Google is likely to devalue the links. Mass spam is something that may even yield you a penalty.

There's no "one size fits all" solution to link building. Some companies have a lot of contacts, sort of naturally generate PR for their stuff, or publish a popular blog that may get backlinked. Others provide a product so mundane that nobody would link their site. It's also very common that your site doesn't fall on this scale at all.

I'd look for solid directories as the sort of low-hanging fruit. Often the good ones take a small fee. How to find them? Well, that's the million dollar question.

It takes time. You must be patient especially if you want to do it free. I say the most important thing is to give value to people via blog posts, forums, etc. Don't concentrate so much on how you can build SEO, but think of how can you add value. That will get people clicking on your website more to read your valuable content this in return will help lead to better rankings.

Also just do lots of reading and educating yourself. SEO is constantly changing make sure to keep up with the latest news.

Depending on what and how big that ecommerce site is, you might be better off focusing more on just driving traffic through social media.

As for the lead generation site, pick a landing page or two and just work at building up those most important pages first.

LOL, nope. That's it. It's boring and tedious.

Only easy less time consuming way is to hire someone else to do it for you.

You can consider creating some sharable type media that is good enough that others will want to spread links for you (IE articles, videos).

I'll echo what has already been said. Google's goal is to rank the best most useful sites highly. You need to be that site.

That said, I am often disappointed to see shockingly awful boiler plate affiliate sites still rank above my lovingly crafted efforts. But I have faith that as Google gets better my sites will win out in the long term!
