Hi,

I launched my website Ten Pound Deals (TenPoundDeals.com | Daily Deals £10 & Under) last month. The site basically lists daily deals which are £10 and under. It's powered by WordPress.

I want to know the best way to go about getting organic traffic and I want to rank for keywords such as "Gifts under £10". I'd prefer to outsource this, since I'm working on the site / social media strategy and I don't have much experience with SEO / SEM.

I've tried Upwork, but I'm not too confident on hiring someone from South Asia as they seem to be the only people that apply.

How would you go about ranking this kind of website? How much time would you spend on it monthly? I'd love to have this site ranked near the top by Christmas time, which I believe is ample time. Thanks!

It is always the exact same thing with ranking: Content and Backlinks.

So, try to get your site as content-rich as possible for such a site.
And then see where you can get high quality backlinks.

There is no magic secret about ranking, sorry :-)

A fresh site, probably with a non-existent link profile, is also unlikely to have much organic traffic and it will take some time to do quality SEO. Sounds like there is a lot of work to do on OnPage and OffPage Optimization. it would be a while before seeing returns. If you want to find ways for him to rank you'll want to find some really niche topics with little competition, create an authoritative guide or piece that raises the bar. Set up a blog and be a real resource and create value for your potential client.

    Hope this helps.

With a, should we call it a minimum content site, like the one you have, it is absolutely a big task to do properly SEO. It will take a lot of time to get the fresh new domain to rank on keywords like that. Otherwise you will have to make unique content for each keyword you'd like to rank for. But it requires a lot of content production, and if you make it yourself, it'll take a long time.

So be prepared for a long run, if you want to succeed with this.

And like deepCode says - content and backlinks. If you wanna build backlinks, be patient and don't spam your link everywhere. Build a natural link-profile with a variety of sites, social medias, blogs, forums etc.

Related links are much more important these days than every before.

Create more content as possible..try to create video, infographics etc. Then share it to social media.
You can also look an existing page in other website and ask a backlinks from them.

I only want to suggest you if you want to rank for gifts under $10 first go to google keyword planner to see how many people per month are searching for this keyword. Then take any necessary step.

For such a website, it would be a problem to get unique content I think... But you should try, you can update if often (I am pretty sure 5-6 articles per day is not a problem!)... Concentrate on Social Media sites (use tools to post in FB & Twitter when you have a new article!)

I haven't done any market research, but I'd say that you need to scale down your expectations. Well, unless you've got deep pockets and a budget to go with this... You've entering a competitive marketplace. The suggestion about content and backlinks is correct, of course, but if your competition is five years ahead of you it's an uphill battle I would avoid. I'm guessing that popular marketplaces would be ranking for this kind of term.

But please don't trust a random forum dweller who's not willing to do the legwork, and investigate the competition yourself. See who ranks, and what kind of pages they've got. I'd install something like Moz toolbar for quick and dirty metrics.

Something like Facebook might bring quicker results than SEO. I'd experiment with FB ads and a fan page.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

    Hi
As your website is New. First of all start with Onpage SEO. Write unique and valuable content for all Pages your site have. Don't copy a single line from the internet or other site. As google has updated its Content algorithm ( Google panda) in the search algorithm. Then optimize your title of the page, meta description, headings, internal linking, alt tags.in the mean time keep doing SMO. Then submit your site to search engines.

Then start with off page after completing the on page.

20 hrs a week will be enough to get the website in 1st page.

As you say, your website is new. Firstly, you can work on the site's on page work. Checked URL, content (if copied, then delete it & write good content), optimize ALT tag & heading tag etc. After the on page you can start website's of page work. You can create quality backlinks & promote your website on social channel and participation on discussion sites.

Yes you can paid for SEO. IF that you want low cost it will take time and effort. I do not know exactly your keyword's competition and no one can make sure how long you will raking on the top. Because that depends on you. the way you do it, wrong or right.

I am not sure SEO and organic traffic is really the best way for you to go. I would guess there's a lot of competition, as someone already pointed out. I am sure I read about a site doing something similar, I think flight deals. They have a simple one page site and offer inside info about deals from airline companies. You subscribe for their newsletter for 2 bucks a month or so, and you get emails regularly about cheap flights. Something like that. I read this on ViperChill here: Inc. Ideas Preview
you have to sign up, but it's an unspammy and useful subscription. I really can't remember the details now, but I think this could be helpful for you, as I see parallels to what you are doing.

It's hard to rank near the top and almost impossible to keep the rank for long time. But you can get links easily with some tactics such as commenting and forum posting as you're quite a newbie in this field. Also create some pages on social media and try posting to high traffic groups.
If u still want to be lazy, try traffic exchanges such as sumoMe discover and Infographic SEO. Here is a wonderful resource which has helped me get free traffic for my site.

Nonsense! It's easy to rank for easy keywords, hard to rank for hard keywords. Not too hard to figure which keywords are hard to rank for and which are asy to rank for.
