Best SEO Method - Blog Post

I am a wedding photographer and like every wedding photographer, when we have photographed a wedding we create a blog post. This image usually has over 100 images on there so is quite slow to load.

What are peoples thoughts on create 2 blog posts per wedding. 1 page that has a lot of text talking about the wedding etc but only 1 image at the bottom that says 'check out the wedding gallery' - All the SEO would be on this page. PLus a second page that simply had the photos on. Im thinking page speed.

Hit me with your thoughts.

Example of a blog post - The Barbican Wedding Photography | Blavou - Emma & Chavez - Please note, this actual post has less images than normal. Like i say, usually around 200 per page.

I would also do this with 3 pages (NOT 3 blogposts, 3 pages!).

One article to tell people you have new stuff for them. Then link back to the set of images which are in other two pages. I don't like to see articles with 10+ images... that's why I offered you to use 2+ pages for the images.

But it's a good idea to "get rid" of those images in the homepage!! You can link to the photography set, but don't place them there!

I happen to know that people love this stuff. This is something that you should post to Facebook and Pinterest. Especially the latter is a good fit for something this visual. Those backlinks are not ranking your site, but it's outreach and search for potential clients.

In my opinion you should edit it down a little, and have maybe the 20-30 best pictures of a single wedding. The rest could go to a separate gallery page if you need to publish them all.

Does it rank? Well, maybe. But at least it's got a lot of potential. It's possible that you could get solid backlinks from the participants, and from the family and friends of the newlyweds.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

    How about video slides?
Increases your exposure via youtube, reduces image load on website, is incredibly popular and shareable and , if you provide video as an option in your business - kills two birds with one stone.

Blog posting is a great idea you can post your blog on following sites:

    Blogger
    WordPress
    Tumblr
    Blog.com
    livejournal.com

But apart from this it is also good if you can share your blog on social media sites like Facebook,Google Plus,Twitter.

Ok so I went ahead and created 2 posts as discussed.

1 - Wortley Hall Wedding Photography | Blavou - Michael & Manasi - This is the post that I will directly be targeting the keyword 'wortley hall wedding photography' with.

2 - Michael & Manasi | Blavou - This is the post that I aren't targeting anything with. Just an area to showcase all the images.

Let me know what you think and whether post 1. will rank well.

An image heavy blog post isn't going to help you much in terms of SEO.

You would be better off using less images (perhaps pick 10 of the best) and publish written text on the page detailing -

    - who got married
    - the location
    - details of the wedding (theme etc)
    - details of the shoot
    - why they chose you
    - information that relates to each photo

..and of course finish with a call to action (like what you see? give us a call)

Image heavy stuff like this you might find you'll get better traction on sites like Pinterest and Instagram.

Alternatively, consider using a tool like Smush.it (image compression tool)

BTW, you should be watermarking your images (use your URL) and use more meaningful file names than just "london-wedding-emma-chavez-13.jpg"
