How to do SEO for a social media platform?

I would love to know your views on how we should go ahead with doing SEO for a new social media platform.

I mean, how these social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc initially started with their SEO activity?

I am asking this question because we recently have started a next generation social media platform by the name 'Affimity' & want to know the steps to do SEO. Is it OK if we just follow normal SEO guidelines or how it should be for a social media platform.

    they start with other marketing out of SEO, they do media buys, ppc, n viral marketing.

    This step will do SEO naturally, since it takes time, n google will look at tons of things.. they differ socmed differently too

    For new social media platform to become popular, the creators spend a load of money on ad buys, on social media marketing campaign on competitor platforms. If the idea behind your platform appeals to the millenials/new users it will generate a lot of buzz and that is the it factor what determines the platform's instant popularity. Just take a look at facebook's history, how facemash transformed into facebook.

    The buzzzing idea has to be unique otherwise it won't generate any popularity for your platform.
    This is the seo required for a new social media platform.
