Whether on your blog or website, you link to outside websites, site inner pages or blog post from time to time.
What is the best way to open external links? In a new tab or in the same tab?
Does it effect SEO in any way in either case?

Doesn't matter. However, you should not open links to new tabs unless you've got a good reason to do so. Doing that for normal links is just annoying.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

    • Always open external links in a new tab that way traffic still has your domain/page open in a browser tab which could get traffic to return to the money site.
    • Never open internal links in a new browser tab, it's annoying for traffic & says the webmaster is clueless.

Have you noticed when clicking on this forum on your PM envelope at the top, that it opens in a new tab?
