I used to hear two words
1. Google dance
2. Goolge ban

Due to this, I have noticed the sites are loosing the SERP? What is the different between these two? I just wonder....

  • "Google dance" usually refers to the movement of a page in the SERPS rankings. Often, a keyword-optimized page will initially rank well as Google does an initial ranking, then fall further down. At that point, it may climb to a more stable position. That's the "dance".

In terms of a ban, it depends on the context. If you're talking about rankings, there is no 'ban'. However, Google may de-index a site, removing it from it's database.

Google can 'ban' a site or user from either it's Adsense or Adwords programs.

Google ban is when google removes all URLs of pages on a site from its index. You can verify whether a site is banned if the site: operator shows nothing.

      Hey Joe,

Not trying to be difficult, but Google can't "ban" a site. They can de-index it (from their own database only), which is what you're referring to.

Google Dance - Google dance is fluctuation of site position and page rank like some times we see that PR of site is showing as 0 while site PR was 2 yesterday and after few days site PR comes to normal stage auto. Or Some times we detect the site position is more than 200 even site position was at 1st or 2nd page yesterday or few days ago and after some time you will see your position normal as past.

These types of fluctuation known as google dance.

And Google ban means there are not any way to promote your site again. Think about another websites after ban because you can do nothing now.

    Thanks

If Google de-index a website it means banned because other search engines don't bring substantial traffic
