Google Kills Off Side Ads: How Will It Impact Organic Search Results?

Hey guys,

Google no longer showing Adwords ads on the right hand side of it's search results page.

Without a doubt, this change is bad news for anyone involved in SEO. Paid position #4 was the old organic position #1.

The top organic search result will no longer be visible above the fold on many desktop devices.

What can site owners and marketers do in response? Any thoughts and pointers?

Most people will still scroll down to organic search results straigth away or if they click on an ad they will come back and go to #1 organic result. Ads usually aren't as helpful or as targeted as organic results

That's just plain wrong, and just the latest example of people
hearing something, seeing something, then running around like
a chicken with its head cut off.

If I am searching for a lawyer, dang it, I want a lawyer. Most
likely one down the street. Why on earth would I want some
bozo IMer's site on bogus legal advice?

    Ditto dentists, restaurants, etc.

You people have no idea how the internet works, or how people search.

    But google does.

If I am shopping for shower curtains, I want a place to buy them.
Not some lame-o shower curtain review BS from Joe Blow's aunt Martha.

Google only puts ads on top for select, highly monetized searches.
Period. They don't even put ads on every search.

It's time for people to start adding worth to the web. I've been saying
    this for friggin' years here.

If you are the same old clown, who year after year, does some lame-o
nonsense keyword research...buys a domain, installs WP because
you are clueless, then tosses up articles done by someone on fiverr,
then complains about google.....I hope you die a quick death.

If you have a real business.....then you would be spending money on advertising.

Gee...that's how google makes money. Go figure.

Oh but the lot of you do not have a real business.

I can't follow your logic. Google has placed three of those ads on the top for ages as you say yourself. So there's one more? Big whopping deal.

It may be bad news for some Adwords users who have to either ruthlessly optimize their campaigns or prepare to spend more to get to the top four.

I'm not much of an Adwords user nowadays, but isn't Google basically selling ads to any keyword you want? I've seen people target completely irrelevant BS as part of their insanely broad campaigns.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

Google is also experimenting to increase the CTR of their adwords ads in the SERP.

Now they remove the right side ads and increase the length of the search page by showing 4 ads on the top of organic result instead of 3 ads.
