    In my view i usually use long tail keywords to target my high competitive keyword in which i will rank first in this low competitive keyword phrase then once established it will also rank for related searches.

    There is no trick. The way to rank on top of SERP is to properly optimize your site onpage, most especially optimizing the keywords you want to pursue. The keyword/s used on your site serves as the short description of what your site is about.

    Well it is very easy to understand this. Ranking a "Shoes" is a lot harder then ranking lets say "Nike Shoes for a man" it is also true that less people search for the second keyword. But only about 30% of sales are made with one word keywords. People doing a search with one word are usually just researching and on the other hand searches with more words are more likely to generate a sale.
