What is the best process to rank for a new keyword without harming current rankings for example...

A website mainly targets '-alternative wedding photography' but then decides they want to target 'award winning wedding photography'

Would you..

A) just build anchor text keywords to the homepage that phrase match

b) create a new page for that keyword eg /award-winning-wedding-photography and then build links to that page

Or

C) create a new page for that keyword and build links to the homepage that matched the phrase roughly?

Create a new page for that keyword and rank that page AND rank the 'alternative wedding photography' page for that keyword too (backlinks).

What's wrong with you being #1 and #2 in Google for keywords that make you money?

But, then, you lose the position your pages old keyword was in. Why do you hate making money?

Creating sub page for it another option if the previous one doesn't work for your business. Both way you can get the positive result for it.

First you need to target keyword in related webpage title and description You can also target these keywords in webpage content. Create backing on those keyword and use social network sites.

    1. First we have to decide whether we should choose a LONG TAIL KEYWORD or just random keywords.

    2. We have to check competitors site also for keyword.

    3. Then we should put the keywords in proper place like in meta tags and in meta description.

Agreed with DABK answer. Creating new page would be great idea. Focus on the content and On page SEO. Be creative while doing interlinking. Surely you will see some improvement.

Ignore this one also. The way they using the signature clearly indicate that they dont know what they are suggesting.

Dont go for Exact match or partial match keywords. Either use long tail keywords or brand keywords. They work very well in 2016 and you will 100% be safe no matter what kind of link you build.
