Help with Google Pagespeed Insights

Hi everyone

I am building a new site for an offline local business I am putting together.

I am using the Avada Wordpress theme and have been running my site through Google Page Insights to check the speed.

No matter what plugins I try or what I do I cannot get rid of the error "Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content".

I know I have to get my javascript and css to appear in the footer or make them appear inline in the HTML but I can't find any plugin that successfully does this. I also tried some code in the functions.php page but that didn't seem to help either.

Has anyone managed to overcome this problem and improve their score in Google page insights?

Thanks

This is not something that I'd have high on my SEO list. If the site is snappy that's enough for me.

W3 Total Cache allows you to do this. It's not the easiest thing to use, and occasionally javascript can break if you combine and/or minify it.
    Signature
Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

That's the toughest one to crack on the PageSpeed list. You really have to know code and try several things. A combination of plugins will help.

The plugins that should help are: Autoptimize, W3 Total Cache, Better Minify WordPress, Above the Fold Optimization - along with some manual optimization.
