301 redirect to subdomain

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a company that complements my portfolio and will ultimately bring it into my companies brand.

In the meantime I want to let existing customers get use to the change. I aim to set up a sub domain on my site and do a 301 redirect from the original site to the domain.

When I've been looking at the new companies site a 'seo' company has been involved and done some less than stella work.

I will be looking to disavow some links but my main concern is whether the 301 will effect my existing site. It would be nice to just disavow some links and then 301.

What I cant seem to find is how google treat subdomains. I dont want to do the 301 if its going to negatively impact my original site.

Can anyone link me to some info on this from google or have any ideas what to do in this situation?

What about a 302 instead of a 301?Or a double 301? I have a lot of success with spam through multiple 301's to filter the juice. Could be worth looking into in this case.

You really aren't re-directing for any SEO value correct? Just doing what a normal business would do after absorbing and growing

Yeah exactly this, I'm just concerned that by redirecting I don't negatively effect my own site.

I think the redirect will be in place too long for a 302.

Never heard of a double 301 I'll look into it.

      thanks

Google, for the most part, treats subdomains as separate sites.

But I cannot make heads or tails on what you are trying to do.

None of it makes any sense, especially disavowing links.

Complete waste of time. Why use a domain that you feel
        the need to disavow links?

Why not take the site offline, do a server side redirect?
No hosting fees needed. No hiding from google. No nonsense.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

I'll try and explain more clearly then.

I own a marketing company for the sake of this illustration lets say its called Quadagon.

I've just bought a company say called prime wearables. Prime wearables own the website primewearables.com where they sell this item of wearable tech.

As we've bought the company we will be phasing out the 'prime' brand and replacing it with quadagon.

On the quadagon website I will have a sub domain set up www.wearables.quadagon com.

For the next 6 months we need the traffic due to go to primewearables.com to go to the subdomain.

Having gained access to the prime wearables site we can see that there has been some black hat SEO going on.

I am wary about pointing any of this at my site - especially if it will have an impact on the rest of the quadagon site.

So my thoughts were to disavow the dodgy links coming into the primewearables.com site. Redirect the primewearables site to the quadagon subdomain and hopefully avoid any negative impact.

The primewearables.com site will then be retired in 6 - 8 months.
