When i build backlinks such as guest posting and etc, do i link back to my site?(mysite.com) or do i link back to the blog post on my site?(mysite.com/the-post) or does it matter? If linking back to the blog post does that help it in google rankings?

It looks like they continue creating nescience based excerpt in Trollsylvania schools.

So @Based please, why don't you tell us what do you think would be
the right answer and then we will try to figure out if you're right or wrong?

I suggest you mix it up. Typically the authority will flow from a post to the root domain because the post has a link to the root domain. The first link on most sites is to the root index page.

If you have proper navigation on your site then the authority from the link will flow across the site.

There's a complex issue here and I won't go into much detail, but I suggest that if you are building links to the posts, that you don't build more links to a single post then the root domain. Build links to multiple posts. Some really wonky things happen if you have a post that has more authority then the root index page.
