What are you doing now? Did you just re-create the site on a new domain?

If not, how are you making money?

I got slapped three weeks ago. Recreated the site, and the money is rolling in once again. But I feel like it's only a matter of time before I get slapped again. And it's not like I had a thin site or anything. It was a 30 page Conduit style site full of unique content

    Sree:

Just wondering -- what did you do to get that slap? Are you driving traffic through PPC or SERPs?

A Myth .... Many use it as an excuse because some actually abuse the system to the extent that Google may de-index you...

Google is famous for pushing sites around but what many forget is the fact that they have competition that is doing the exact same things they are and targeting the exact same keywords.. The one that does it best Wins!!

I have had two sites drop recently, the only thing I think I did wrong was get back links from the wrong places. It's annoying because these two sites were making sales and both were on the first page of Google, one site is now completely gone only the privacy policy remains indexed. And the other site has gone from 5th position on the first page to first position on the 2nd page.

What are the "wrong places?" Paid directories? "Bad neighborhood" sites? I hope it's not the article directories because that's where I've been doing most of my link building.

Put a link to your irresistible offer, your home page, etc. right on top of your Privacy Policy.

That is normal if you added some backlinks recently. From time to time Google makes new web analysis and each time site that has new backlinks 're-shifts'. But after few days it should be back a bit higher than it was.

You may have a problem if you did not add any backlinks recently. Still - maybe somone posted link to your website somewhere? You never know that.

Will it come back? This is freakin makes me nervous. I'm about to work on my first site today and I don't want it to get killed by Google.

I hope Bing/Yahoo can make big-G more nice to it's peasants.

Any more it's a question of which three it is...and what to do about it...

With Google it just takes a bit of researching to figure out what makes it happy and then stick with that...

I have a 5 page website beating my 20 page website for the same keyword...so hell who knows...

I recently lost my top passive earning affiliate site in the rankings. Went from #5 for a keyword getting almost 1 million searches a month to nowhere. It's still indexed, but not to be found in the SERPs in the top 1000 returns. Essentially gone. Pretty hefty hit to my income, but not a total killer (thankfully).

What you have to do is move on. Spend a few minutes being human - be shocked, stunned, upset, maybe even cry a little if you're so inclined. Then buck up, stiffen your resolve, and forge ahead. Marketers have to have thick skins. If you don't, you're in the wrong business, partner.

I've used this setback to re-focus on my info product business. I'm going to finish 2 new ebooks and put them up for sale. I'm going to make back MORE than I lost due to Google's unpredictable whims.

    In other words...

    SCR*W YOU, GOOGLE!

The term "Google Slap" is when google raises your minimum CPC on a keyword, usually because they feel the content is irrelevant to the keyword.

I think people here are talking about having their website "Penalized" in the SERPS.

Bit of a confusing thread as I think some people are talking at cross purposes.

I like google (Sorry John), but I try not to keep more then 20% traffic coming from it since if they try the slap, I cannot me hurt that bad.

I just rebuild on a new domain. The only slaps I have gotten were for squeeze pages though, so it's easy to just slap it on a new domain.

just normal google dancing, etc. Not only will your own site get shuffled around some do to new links before settling down again, but so will your competitors, which will of course bump you around some as well.

    sree94...thanks for this question.

I too was severly slapped a few months ago that affected my affiliate websites.

You mentioned you put up new sites. Were they the same Conduit types or something different?

Holiday time will be upon us soon and I have a few money makers that I'd like to resume.

My thoughts are the same as are yours, it is only a matter of time until G finds the new sites and slaps them again, until we learn what they want us to do.

Please let me know what new sites you put up. Thanks. Sheri
