Shortcodes and duplicate content

I manage a dental website that is created in WordPress. I use a plugin for testimonials that allows for categorizing the testimonials. I have a page that displays all the testimonials and then use shortcodes to display specific testimonials on other relevant pages.

SEO Profiler is picking up the shortcode content as duplicate content. Is there a way to tell search engines to not index the content displayed by the shortcodes? I want the user to see these testimonials but do not want the site to get penalized for duplicate content.

Is this even a real issue or just on for SEO Profiler?

I know Google is okay with limited amounts of duplicate "supplemental content"

If it is too much, you MIGHT be able to use google master tools to demote a page, or use robots txt to avoid google seeing the double content and discount it from ranking. (might)

SEO profiler might just be wrong on this one. Even some of the best tools suggest completely ludicrous changes.

Are the pages different enough? How much of the content is in the testimonial? If it's just a small portion of the page I would not consider it to be a problem. Sites have sidebars and all sorts of duplication all the time. If the pages are ranking reasonably well that would confirm that your tool got it wrong.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?
