Backlinks not showing for site? Please help...

Hi All,

So I've been hitting the backlinks HARD, putting up over 1,000 links from Angela and Pauls packet over the past month.

Today I fired up Google Webmaster tools and it listed a whopping 43 links. I realize they won't show all of them, but this seems pretty small...

Anybody else have this problem? Is Google Webmaster really worth the trouble if they only report a small sample? How do I know these links are really working?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    Yups, I don't think google will show up all the backlinks to your site. But as a result of having more backlinks, you will be able to see increment on your SERP as well as on your traffic. Are you?

      Yes, I've seen an improvement in the SERPs but how can I ever find out which sites are still live and which ones aren't?

      Besides double checking every website

      Any ideas?

    Just check your backlinks using Yahoo. If Yahoo knows they are there, so will Google. Its just Google won't show it to you.

    non of the major search engines show accurate link data, one of my sites has over 3000 link pointing to it from hundreds of domains there mostly backlinks from users linking to how to guides etc and google webmaster tools shows exactly 61 links! and things arnt much better on the other major search engines although yahoo is more accurate as somebody mentioned. they dont show them because it would start to give away secrets on how there algorithams worked cos i could check links to a competitors site and see what they had done that i hadnt and then copy and improve!

      The "backlink checker tools", including Yahoo Site Explorer, take some time to show the links. Google will NEVER show them all to you. From my own experience, I never see any of these backlinks using these tools after I did Angela's backlinks but my rank improved to Google page one. I guess you can make your own deduction.

        Fair enough, thanks. I think I'm gonna scrap backlink checker tools from now on.
