Hello warriors

When building back links do you always link to the main URL of your website? I will be building back links for the next few hours and am unsure if I should link to Individual posts as well as my main page?
What do you guys do when building links?

    Hi samuelbell,

The #1 rule of SEO is that search Engines rank web pages, not websites. Every page on your website creates an opportunity to rank for a different keyword. Would you rather rank 30 different pages in SERP or just the one?

I have found what Don stated to work well and agree that you want to build links to individual pages as well as your home page.

You would want to build backlinks to each post of your blog. Not just the homepage URL.

  • Link back to the page that best matches the content of the site you are linking from.

You'll get more reward that way. I have a site that pulls in thousands of visitors each month and almost never through the homepage.

I have put direct url´s to some of my more popular "how to" posts in the sidebar of my blog.It has increased the time people spend on my blog.

Don't build links just to your domain and homepage, you want the links go deep, that is what we call deep linking!

Deep linking is part of an important SEO work, without it your site won't rank well.

For blogging, you should concentrate more on your content. Do keyword research, find low competition long tail keywords with allintitle count of 200 or less.

Learn how to write keyword optimized article, and keep finding more long tail keywords, build quality content on it, and bookmark the post that you really like with digg, reddit, mixx, stumbleupon, and use socialbot to submit your post to the rest of the bookmarking sites.

We want some link juice from bookmarking sites, at the same time exposure to help your site gain natural organic links!

Within 3 months, you should gather 300 ~ 500 visitors/day if you do this consistently, everyday!

Yeah, what he said. Seriously, he is totally right. If you are serious about your site then you will need to deep link. Optimize each page with the right meta tags, title, etc...

If you're dealing with a blog, build back links to the main URL. But if you have a site with other connecting pages, you should optimize also to the deeper links.
