Which Updates To Make For Best Rankings

Hi all,

I created a website that is extremely rich in content - about 75 pages with the proper SEO focus keywords, titles, meta descriptions, etc. I noticed a few weeks after the site went live that it was ranked very highly in regards to the search terms I built the site around. However, lately the rankings seem to be slipping.

On the same site, I write blog content once or twice every week. Do I need to freshen up the static pages every so often and resubmit the sitemap to improve rankings? Or am I good with just updating the blog?

    Hi,

Glad to hear your success with your site. If you haven't already, you should track your keywords for all pages in a rank tracking tool to get best analysis of what's going on. When you have a new site, your rankings are going to jump around a bit, this is normal.

To increase the rankings of these pages, you will have to build some links. Remember that quality over quantity is everything with SEO right now. Don't fall into the trap of being promised hundreds of links for $10. This will just get your site penalized and ruin all your hard work.

Ideally, you would want to analyze where you are in every keyword for each page in SERPS and then analyze first page competition as well. This will give you an idea of how many links you need to build and what type of pages are ranking on first page. From here I would start doing SEO for keywords with most search volume and maybe a few easy to build links for your other pages.

If you are already getting traffic, that's a good sign. Now with some high quality links, you can be ranking 1-3 and get the real traffic.

Honestly, I've seen websites that haven't updated a thing within the last few years and had rankings increase, although in my own experience it doesn't hurt to update a webpage and sitemaps every now and then, Google seems to love changing and dynamic things.

Its not just creating content for the website but to determine what's the most interesting to the target audience in which will be creating an engagement and possible shared in their network then rankings will follow.

Thanks for the input, all. I'm going to freshen the content and try getting a few business connections with high ranking sites to give me some quality backlinks as well. It seems like it's a healthy balance between dynamic content, backlinks and the most relevant articles to attract interest.
