There are many factors but I don't think you should worry about it at all. It doesn't really help with your traffic or SERP.

If your Alexa rank decreases that's supposed to be a good thing. However, Alexa is completely pointless. It's basically an inaccurate visitor statistic based on really lousy method.

To worry about Alexa rank is like just waste your time because it is not the perfect tool that measure traffic for your website. It only shows the data of website who has installed the alexa tool bar and only track those website. For example if your website is having 500 total visits and only 200 browsers have installed the Alexa tool then it will track only 200 visits. Your website visits are more then the alexa results.

Install Google analytics, and sign up for webmaster tools if you want to track your website progress, AWstats may be on your server, you should be checking that as well.

Analytics, as the previous commenter suggested. Also, get a SERP tracker to see how you rank in search engines. I'm using Rankwatch and SE Ranking.

You can track and analysis your website traffics using Google analytics. You can take help of Google search console (Webmaster tools) to find the crawling status, keyword ranking and impression status and many more. You can also use bing webmaster tool that is completely free.

Best solution ever: Don't ever think about Alexa, don't ever say the word Alexa, forget that there's such a thing as an Alexa website.

    Focus on making money.

Open notepad as administrator in windows (no idea how to do this on a mac.)

    Locate your hosts file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

    Add
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 alexa.com
    Then save it.

    Bamn. Done.

You will never have Alexa problems again.

I think I'm about to focus on Alexa rankings for some of my new sites. I have like 10 sites in the sandbox currently and the changes to the sandbox make me want to rip my penis off.

SUP #7, 3 days later, or #192... 2,000+ word pillar getting out ranked by dozens of spam pages, and getting zero long tail traffic.

Tip to anybody who does affiliate stuff, go register 10 domains in niches you might work on at some point in your life, throw 10 decent articles on them, do basic link building, and just let them cook. Sandbox 2.0 is super lame... It's like they added a layer of FU to the old sandbox. Now instead of just nerfing your rankings they added in a "magic bounce to bottom of the SERP for 3 months" feature. Or, if it's competitive, you just bounce straight out of the SERP entirely.

I'm also pretty sure that during this period, the more you check the search console the less data it gives you.

Googlebot comes by when ever it feels like it, pinging Google with updates doesn't do squat. I had to start forcing content into Google with fetch as Google after waiting a week... I just threw some articles onto a site that's not sandboxed and Googlebot came by and gobbled the content up in like 15 minutes ...

A/B'ing aged sites vs new domains here and it's very real. Kind of hard to argue about it now.

I haven't worked with any new domains since before the change and wow... I don't think I'm ever going to again...

I would not track Alexa rank as it doesn't help much in SEO. You can get brief idea about ranking but beyond that it is not useful in my opinion.

Doesn't help much? It doesn't do anything... Maybe you'll get some traffic out of it if your site is in the top 1000.

Alexa ranking doesn't matter at all.

If your ranking was decreasing then you're doing good.

    The lower the better.

Alexa is never important for our website, rather than you will see exact statistics details from the google analytic and Google webmaster tools.

As multiple posters have repeatedly said these numbers are irrelevant and often completely arbitrary. How about trying to get some meaningful stats instead? SERP rankings, conversions, etc.

Not even close. Read post 22 above for a sample of how Alexa works.

And read up on Alexa, you don't seem to know anything about it.
