What does good SEO cost?

Hello,

A company is developing our shop, the PSDs has been provided by me, so they really only do the coding part, what cost us $4500.
I think thats a fair price because the system is pretty complex. but the reason why i opened this thread is SEO.

They made me an offer of $1800 per month and they said, i can expect 50k viewer after the first month per month. In this package included is only the pure SEO work, no google adwords, adsene or anything else.

What price is fair in this business? What should be included? (Right now they did not analyze the frontpage, landing page or anything else) Is this a good price? We did not discus the whole SEO project in detail because the developing work has not finished yet. Would be nice if someone explains, how a professional marketing company works From very beginning, all steps.

    50K view after one month by only seo work is suspicious to me. As you said they didn't analyze your website and your competitors or anything......it is really suspicious. If they use whitehat techniques then it will take couple of months to get good results from google. But if they use blackhat technique then you will get that much visitors but your business will get penalty from google as soon as they identify you. So be careful.

    Ask them to give you details information about their seo package.

    Wow! Seriously, that's costly.
    Analysis would be the most important thing to be done first, especially on the site and the its market.
    Plan, goal and strategy should be there too. You can get that from your SEO, ask about the timeline.
    You should also be oriented on how SEO work aound, even if you don't know much about it, it is your task to also educate yourself. Anyway, I think those are the necessary things you need to get on your SEO.
