I would choose a high volume niche (since we're talking about ranking #1 and by-passing competition) and optimize my site to collect email addresses.

Then I'd follow up with valuable emails to build a relationship with my list, and recommend only quality affiliate products.

I would then take my earnings and re-invest it into paid traffic.

Why paid traffic?

Well, I know this whole scenario is hypothetical, but even if there was a way to guarantee #1 Google rankings for any keyword of your choice, it won't last very long - so you better have something reliable to fall back on.

None of the "tricks" search engine optimizers used a few years back still work, either.

SEOs who believe they can use some "trick" to win Google's favor always get bitch-slapped by the Big G.

The only safe and consistent way to rank a site is to enhance user experience, and optimize for social sharing and engagement (that's how you get genuine backlinks).

Of course, there's more to it than that but it mostly falls under user experience and engagement.

That's a powerful method if you could really do it and if it stuck... Unfortunately like with all these "secret methods", they don't last and like Daniel said you won't stay #1...

As far as monetizing, im surprised you even have to ask!

Well if your getting results and I mean traffic that is joining your list well why not! If your in this industry and teaching people what is working. Don't be afraid of competition! Its a good thing.

The nice thing about this ranking thing is really I mean yes there is a way to do but there is not an exact way to do it. Google see's that. Every site is different

I would go for highest volume keyword and optimize site for different income streams: adsense, clickbank, list building.

Yes I would do the same. Would create products for hot niches like weight loss, relationship, self help, make money online and sell them like crazy :-)

Anyone who says they have a good method....has no clue about your site.

Every person, website, situation, keyword/phrase, location, experience, time, intelligence, work ethic, sleeping habits, etc. are DIFFERENT.

So sharing is futile.

Do you know a good method to become a brain surgeon?

Well i have tried for almost 20 keywords, it worked for 16 out of them.

I have held rankings for almost 9 hours at max for a single keyword. You need to repeat steps mentioned in the PDF to get rankings for long time.

Epic Fail...

If you had a secret method to rank #1 in Google, you would be sitting there doing it 18 hours a day, while outsourcing as much work as humanly possible without revealing the method so you could do it faster.

I have the basic techniques that work and some slightly innovate techniques which are all openly discussed on various websites (for the most part) and I'm sitting here doing it all day long 7 days a week.

Give me a break dude. No such method exists. If it does, it only works on keywords that do not make much money and nobody cares about them. In which case, I have about 100 "secret techniques."

Just from those 2 paragraphs, I have a pretty good idea what you're doing, and that's not a secret to me.

I'm curious on what you offer?
If you want to monetize your site then start offering your products/services.
What type of keyword you are trying to rank for? short term or long tail?
Ranking on the top spot will not give you an assurance that you'll gain traffic or you'll get leads, of course the main objective is to satisfy what users are looking for on search.
