Too many outlinks? (to scientific literature)

Hi,

Was reading some stuff about SEO a few minutes ago and one source stated that too many outlinks is bad for SEO.

The problem is; I outlink a lot.

All my content is usually sourced up by lots of scientific literature. (a few articles have as much as 150 outlinks to scientific literature).

My question is: Is this bad for SEO and if so, should I make the links NO-Follow?

Thanks you very much in advance,
Stefan

This is very simple to solve.

Create your content, article, whatever and at the bottom of the content add one internal link pointing to a 2nd internal page that list the resources. Nofollow all the links on the 2nd resource page and even noindex the 2nd page If wanted.

This way you can have however many outbound links you want because the 2nd internal page doesn't matter for SEO.

Just one more advantage of SEO silos.

      Great advice yukon, thanks.

Do you think such many links to the same source (primarily Pubmed science database) would negatively affect SEO?

      Thanks

If your content is unique and all you're doing is linking to a reference you should be fine. You don't want to copy content from a page and then link to that same page.

Everything is unique so I'll leave the links as they are now.

          Thanks!
