Are paid directories worth?

If they bring some traffic maybe they are worth. You just can't really know unless you get listed or ask someone who was listed there. 30-60 is a lot though, you could create some awesome content and guest post it.

Of course, only buying dirs spots is a waste.

But I'm in a crowded market (web hosting), and I have a couple contextual links already.

At this time I guess I need to increase the DA of my domain to make it easier to rank in the future.

That stuff (DA/PA) is hype, it doesn't rank pages.

You don't need to increase DA. You need more good links.

Even with a high competition? What's a good place to find guest blog posting services?

I have used Fiverr, but I'm not confidend that $5 can give us good backlinks

Forget fiverr, it's junk.

If you have a decent site (content that traffic wants) you should be able to get some followed links via email outreach.

Hi,
I disagree that there is no benefit to SEO from paid directories, I do not see the benefit of paid directories for SEO. I would rather invest that amount towards testing out the efficacy of my target keywords through PPC.
