Hi,

I was just wondering how many daily backlinks target is good for SEO. I have seen some posts in different blogs where it is mentioned that too many backlinks in short period of time are not good for SEO. Is it true?

The truth is there is no optimum amount of backlinks.

The second truth is that it's so complex, you're best to wait and see can you rank naturally.

When not ranking naturally then build some links.

But also I tend to try not be a bully and make less backlinks as I see my content reaching the first page.

You mean that it is possible to increase your search engine rankings without backlinks??
Some people say that it is very difficult to impossible!!!

You could be getting 1000 backlinks per day. It can still be a good practice but you need to be consistent. Google is always on the lookout for sites that have a burst of links and then stop. This will usually end up in Google putting up a spam flag on your site.

So best advices is to be consistent.

If you're manually building links yourself, you cannot build "too many links". It isn't physically possible.

If you're using automated tools or massive outsourcing you could possibly build too many links if they aren't well diversified. The threshold for this is rather high though.

Many people mistake normal Google algorithm preferences for "Query Deserves Freshness" and "Query Deserves Diversity" for their site being 'penalized' or 'sandboxed' for too many links.

Actually, once I owned a website related to make money online. I used to make 100s of posts (Not spamming) daily on 2 different forums related to make money online just for promoting my website (Not intentionally for backlinks).

After 2 months, I checked backlinks to my site in Google and they came out to be 1200+. It means 20+/day!

The amazing thing was: 800+ of them were from one single forum and the rest were from the other forum.

So, I want to know if it is a suitable amount of backlinks in 2 months(and also the method)?

  • How many backlinks you require will obviously depend on what your goals are and what it takes to achieve them.
The first place to start is with your competitors.Check how many blacklinks they have and how well their site is targeted.

Too many backlinks per day would mean unnatural number. What is natural depends on the niche.

If you publish funny videos, 10,000 backlinks over night can be normal. If you publish a blog on dog grooming services in Howboken, more than a few hundred per month might look a little unnatural.

  • 1 Billion. I'll take as many as I can get.

There is not such thing as "optimum"... you either want traffic or your don't. If you live in fear of Google you will have a tough time making money.

The best answer really is to take a look at the sites competing for the top spot. Do they have any backlinks, zero or hundreds (thousands?) Then the best answer is that your goal will be just a bit more than everyone else and try not to get them all at once. If it only take s10 to get the top spot, pick up a couple at a time. Usually when I see a page get hundreds of backlinks at once and then nothing, there is a quick burst where the site arrives on page one, then within a few days it drops because Google is expecting it to continue this pace of link building. Usually, it recovers slowly back to the top, but as someone above said it is much more complicated than just how many you need to get each day. Not all links are created equal.

being natural is the keyword. Start from a small number from day 1 and increase it by 1 each day.
    Day 1 - 1 link
    Day 2 - 2 links
    Day 3 - 3 links...

I think there is no amount of good and quality backlinks. SEO is continuing process and for that you need to build backlinks daily.

10 links a day, the more the better.

Disclaimer: We all know that there is no optimum number for building backlinks. The number I posted is what I am practicing, and is supported by Google and/or it's partners.

i'm currently experiencing this confusing dilemma. Today is my 9th day of link-building. I tried to create like 20 backlinks daily in the last 6 days but I noticed that the keywords I'm ranking are pushed down to the bottom.

now that this thread is bumped.. i got a weird doubt. So like, what I've learned till now is to have consistency in backlinking. But what about linking less than 10 ? I mean.. does it still matter if I make 2 BL today, and 4 tomorrow, and some 6 day after and then back to 3 the next day? Or should we be consistent at any number of BLs we create.
