Building links

When you are building links to a site and want it to look natural to google, it must be a right "pattern" for doing this. Today you can buy and gain any type of link you need, from ow to high quality links. A new site, I believe cannot be supported with only high quality links as this should be unnatural and trigger a spam alert to google.
How would you gurus in here,plan a link building campaign for a new site ?
First directory submissions, forum posts,blogposts,articles and then high quality links after a certain period ? Would this be the right way to do it?

    There will be many opinions on this matter.

    IMO, you need an expansive link building strategy for both new and established sites. You can't really say well this way works and that's the way I'll do it. Instead, keep on trying new ways to get links. Word of caution however, try the new methods on "disposable" sites and keep the tried and true methods for your money sites.

    I believe in building links slowly. Many in this forum take the opposite approach and build as many as you can. Again, it's a matter of opinion and what works best for you.
