Using same keyword phrases in content

Hello there,

I have a question regarding the use of the same keyword phrases in multiple pieces of content on the same topic.

For example, a client of mine blogs about each episode of Breaking Bad in a series. Let's say the two main keyword phrases, one of which will be anchor text linking to relevant pages on the same topic, are 'watch breaking bad online' and 'stream breaking bad online'.

If they produce a blog about every episode in a breaking bad series, can they use the same keyword phrases in each individual blog? Also, does it matter if they use the same anchor text keyword phrase in each individual blog. In this case, 'watch breaking bad online'

Thanks

You should look to Wikipedia as a good example of how to do internal interlinking properly. I don't think its a horrible thing for him to link with the same anchor text in every blog post but it should be relevant to the content. Not just shoved in there in order to get the link/anchor in.

I have been informed by someone regarding the use of long tail keywords and anchor text.

As previously discussed, the original plan was to anchor text 'watch breaking bad online' to the relevant page.

However, I've been told that would appear spammy and instead it would be better practice to anchor text 'you can watch breaking bad online here'.

Despite 'watch breaking bad online' being the long tail keyword phrase, it looks more natural from a Google point of view to anchor text 'you can watch breaking bad online here'.

Would appreciate some opinions from people.

      Thanks.

My advice is structure your site so you have one authority page that targets your main keyword (ex: watch breaking bad online), then use keyword anchor-text (same keyword (watch breaking bad online)) on relevant internal pages pointing back to that one authority page.

Look into SEO silos for an idea how to take advantage of good site structure.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense regarding internal structure. What would you say about the specific anchor text i.e. 'watch breaking bad online' or 'you can watch breaking bad online here'. Just heard it is better to anchor text with the former example, as it appears to be less spammy from Google's point of view. The person also said the same of two word anchor texts.

      Thanks.

Go with the exact keyword you're trying to rank for as internal anchor-text.

If you set the site structure up right and depending on SERP competition strength it's possible to get double or even triple SERP listings per each keyword and/or Google Sitelinks.
