Hello Warrior Forum community.

I just want some quick help about the back linking of my blog.
My question is, Does having 100 backlinks from a SAME website helps to rank in Google OR just having only 1 backlink from a single website is enough? :smilies_confu sed:

Focusing on numbers of backlinks, rather than the quality of them, is a common mistake. You should be clear on the fact that backlinks aren’t all equal in value. 1 high quality backlink can be worth 100 low quality backlinks so i think you need quality links+less competition niche to rank in search.

Nothing to do with number, but quality.

1,000 backlinks from shower-curtain-review.com, is worthless.

1,000 backlinks (real) from NYT, would be golden.

So what you are saying is that Having 1000 links from different posts of NYT is golden. Even Though the main Domain is same which is NYT.
      Right?

It was a kind of tongue in cheek reply, but if one were able to get a large number of links, real links, from one dang big authority site, yeah. It would be something to behold.

Of course there is this myth that only one link is counted. That idea, is just illogical.

Take internal links, for example. All from the same domain. And internal links are counted.

But it is by a case by case basis, I'm quite sure. But there is no way google would just up and ignore every link but one from a domain. The idea is silly. It brings up a whole host of problems and what ifs. Like which link, pray tell, are they going to actually count? The first, the last, the best, the worst?

Google may count only one link per page, maybe.

Google does have link priority and other such stuff when looking at anchors, PR passing, etc.

For me, if you can able to build links from number of quality domains then it would be helpful for the ranking.

Before thinking about "how many" backlinks, please think through what type of backlinks. A small number of quality backlinks are much better then a hip load of junk backlinks.

Get as many backlinks from different sites(Good if PR is high and lots of social media followers) as much as possible.

As others have said - quality of links is more important than quantity.

To address your question directly: Several links from one website will give you more page rank than just one of those links.

But the number of different high quality sites (domains) that you have links from correlates well with rankings, so it's definitely better to get links from diverse sources, rather than getting loads of links from a single site.

Try to earn backlinks from multiple domains to have high link diversity. Link diversity is also one of the main website ranking factor.

Don't care about the quantity of backlink, caring about the quality of backlinks.

You should care about the quality of backlinks, a quality backlink is a backlink that links to your web site using your keywordsor keyword phrase, and also appears on a Web site that has the same theme or similar content topic as your own web site.

The number isn't so relevant. It's the quality that you need to look for.

1 high-quality backlink will trump 100 lower quality backlinks any day.

A backlink will also provide more benefit for you if it is contextual and highly relevant to the page that it is linking to. If you have a website about cars and you get backlinks from a website about airplanes it won't do much for you. Relevancy is very important.

ignore the SEO value of a link... just think that if you link is on that page is it useful to the people visiting that page.... from there you can work out the rest
