Do we actually need to post something on the forum? Or we can just setup our links and then move on to another forum?

Also, does pinging a profile do any good?

See as far as my little experience is concerned you should participate in the conversation, then n only then it helps you in the longer run simply creating profiles, is like using Paul's package, it really doesnt help (atleast it hasnt helped me)

I AM LAUGHING TO SEE This...we come to discuss our issues thats the 1st priority of forums. it gives us exposure it should be our second priority. if we are thinking for creating our back links..as first priority by forum. then moderators are always there..to understand an innatural activity.

I also think conversation in forum is necessary. Just setting up links in profile would not be so helpful.

Ok, firstly, if all you do is find a forum and put an irrelevant link you will get very little benefit. You're virtually wasting your time. You need to participate in communities that are RELEVANT to the site you want to promote.

I've just sent Angela a PM about this matter, we'll see what she replies.

I've got a new question here.

If build my backlinks from Angela and Paul's packets ONLY, will I leave footprints that Google will trace?

Forums are made for sharing information and contributing, they are learning centers. The sig file is your "business card" that is posted after every post you make. The point is to be as useful and helpful to others as possible and they will visit you site to learn more about what you have to say.By posting crap on the forum, who is going to click on your sig-file and take you seriously?

Tip, sign up and leave you profile empty for a week or so, then come back and leave a link in profile. Idea is to fly under the radar. Ideally outsource this work.

tommen is totally right, if you're not helping then you're part of the spam problem and you are making it harder for everyone.

Posting crap to get backlinks isn't as effective as establishing your credibility first and then actually giving out some value like on yahoo answers for example, or wikipedia. You'll get better results that way and enhance the community's reputation as well.

If you're trying to get quick results rather than posting on forums you might look at emailing your friends that have blogs to give you links, or blogs in your niche that you can help out by contributing in some way. They're better quality links and again you'll be enhancing your reputation rather than eroding it.

I have been posting once on each forum, writing appropriate responses each and every time. It will NOT be marked as a spam as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not posting crap, so it's not a problem. I just want to know if we HAVE to post something on the forum for the backlinks to be indexed, because Angela said it's OK not to post on the forums.

There are some forums where the profiles are getting cached within some days even if the user does not participate anymore. But most of the forums are not like that, If he/she participates only it will index the profile. However, even there are some forums - the profiles are not get cached, even if we do 15-20 posts.... that required some more wrk or more pings too :p
