SEO for items for sale on etsy and on my own site?

Hi,

If I open an Etsy store to sell my own items - would it be a good idea to also sell the items from my own website or just link to the Esty store?

I don't want the pages to be in competition with each other, but then the Etsy page will outperform my own site...but maybe that's okay.

Or is it ultimately better to just have a store on my own site? Not sure how to move forward.

(Currently selling t-shirts on RedBubble and Zazzle and am now ready to create my own products.)

Thanks!

If they compete with each other and they win, don't you make more sales?

Of course you should create both. Both should have different titles/text/descriptions..etc and target different sets of keyphrases. This gives you the ability to have 2 sites targeting that many more keyphrases, increasing traffic and sales. If anything, get more than 2 started!
