SEO works?

Hello some marketers claim to make thousands out of SEO optimization.

What I found is that probably it's not true.

I work for the large advertising company and finally I found out it takes big investments to get high returns.

And SEO is just a little piece of cake that brings only additional traffic. The cooperating company that runs SEO and sponsored search campaign for us produces some extra traffic for us but those still aren't that impressive amounts.
So when the professional SEO companies produce average results, then how come the one guy can claim to make millions or whatsoever from blog or website optimization or better yet from one single article?


I'm curious about your opinions.

    I can make a site, SEO it for a day, wait a week, and it will be top five in google, top five in yahoo, and top five in msn.


    It just all depends what niche you are after, what keyword, what your offer is, etc.


    It really just all depends. You can however be a millionaire from optimizing websites, there is no doubt.

    And they do, in fact, make thousands with SEO. Just not the way you think.

      Accoroding to me, SEO does work as it makes your site rank in a good position of SERPS and also it drives good amount of traffic to your site which increases the PR of site.


      As, it also raises the position of Keywords too. For this, all you need to require is better updates for your site, ethical SEO processes. It seriously works.

        IMHO it really depends on what niche you are in.

        SEO is more for mid to long term benefits rather than short one, that's PPC.

          SEO really does well but remember that's a long term process. Initially you won't expect to get awesome results but gradually you can improve and can achieve top position.

    This is a ridiculous thread. Of course SEO makes people money. You simply cannot refute the fact that if a commercial website is setup to make money from incoming traffic in one way or another that SEO will make that website money (given that the site can actually convert anything), as it supplies traffic.

    I've personally got ~30 ecommerce projects that are 100% SEO driven and believe me, they make money.

    Sounds to me like you're working with a subpar firm. There ARE businesses out there that won't benefit from SEO, it's up to the consulting agency to determine that and not accept the clients. The ethical ones anyway.

    You have two choices. Pay or Play.

    If you choose not to work on SEO for a site, one thing is assured. You won't ever rank.

    It's like expecting to be a professional Basketball Player and never practicing. Won't happen no matter how talented you are. And for some people it won't happen if they practice 8 hours a day from age 5.

    It's about picking your strengths then working on them.

    I'd bet that there are no affiliates here that could break into certain niches on the First Page because huge companies have purchased their way to the top. Seriously if a company has a multimillion dollar budget, they can simply hire people to push them to the top. But will that yield a good return on investment?

    The really smart companies use Affiliates to leverage their position. Without Affiliates Amazon would not have happened.

    So yes SEO works, but what works better is having a real plan ... and figuring out what is better Pay to Play or Work to Play.

    SEO is a process, not a project. Some of make money doing it for ourselves, some of us make money doing it for others, and some of us make lots of money teaching others how to do it. And SOME of us make money doing all three.

    Yes, it does work. And yes, it does pay... in multiple ways.
