I have searched for keywords for over a week and found that Shopping has over 1 biliion 400 million searches a month. How important is it to have it as a website address.

Can I monetize it through affiliate marketing?

I found another keyword that has more than 1 billion 600 million. How important is it?

Can anyone refer an excellant Affiliate program? I am just starting out and I am committed to learning this business.

Thanks

It is approximately 0% important to have a keyword that gets searched a billion times in your domain. Just because you have a domain like "theshoppingwebsite.com" it will not help you attract shoppers any more than "amazon.com" or "jet.com" do.

The difference between "theshoppingwebsite.com" and "amazon.com" is that first example has the random, frequently searched keyword in it, whereas the second example is a viable business that provides sought after products to customers.

So, the short version is that the domain is fairly irrelevant when you're looking at such a broad example. You need to look for a market, then a niche, if you're just starting out. For example, a market is "woodworking" and a niche would be "woodworking projects for beginners" or "at home woodworking projects". The difference is that you actually stand a chance when you find a very targeted niche, even if its only a few thousand people searching for it each month, than a broad, untargeted word like "shopping".

Hello, I doubt very seriously that a web site with only shopping in it would make the top of the search engines. I would also like to recommend that you aim for more search engine optimization.

That's thousands of different long tails. Who searches "Shopping" unless they don't know the definition or how to shop?

As Gambino said, it’s a very, very broad term and as Brent Stangel added, those figures include thousands of different long tails.

When Google gives you search figures for a term like “shopping”, they aren’t giving you numbers for when just that term was searched for on its own. They’re also including the figures for when that terms was searched for as part of a phrase. So, your 1.6 billion searches will include phrases like: “cheap dog food shopping”, “shopping tips in Paris” and stuff like that. BTW, those are long tails

To get an idea of what people are searching for, go to Google and type shopping in the search box and look at the suggestions dropdown. I get things like shopping mall near me, shopping cart, shopping websites and so on. And you can keep digging deeper to see more ideas.

Keep digging until you find a relatively narrow niche, as Gambino suggested, and then work from there.

Also remember to take into account intent. For example, shopping mall near me is not going to help you generate sales because that person obviously wants to find a mall in their vicinity. On the other hand, something like shopping tips in Paris might be a good option for a travel website.

Keywords with the high number of searches do not prove the point that you can make a profit out of them.Terms associated with the high number of searches with higher competition is hard to rank for. The high competition simply gives an idea that there are so many websites using this particular keyword. High authority and page rank websites have already used this keyword in their content. It will become almost impossible for you to write such a high volume of content on your website. You will also not be able to get the backlinks for this particular keyword. It is advisable to you if you try for long tail keyword technique.
Long keyword technique will focus on the phrases around your keyword. For example, you can make a phrase “Get the best deals on shopping in Texas”. This particular phrase can get you to high rankings on search engines without losing to high page rank websites.
Always start with low competition keywords. Once you establish a high number of words content on the website, then you start gradually to target high competitive keywords.
There are so many affiliate programs that are available on the internet nowadays. First, narrow down your area of interest. Which product do you want to promote? After deciding the answer you can start your search for the affiliate program for your website. Google adsense is ad showing network through which you can earn a decent earning. Try to increase your traffic on the website and earn money by showing the ads of affiliate promotion.

    Gambino already said it all!

What I could add is that if you are in the Flipping business, that is a completely different story. A website or even just a domain name shopping.com (already owned though) would flip for thousands of dollars.

Since that's not the case, it's better you focus of finding low-competition good-search-volume buyer keyword like 'how to train a dog', 'natural gout remedies' and so on...

If you mean EMD then unless it's a micro niche website not important at all. It's all about brands now :-)

Only if you have SHOPPING.COM and use it to sell something like amazon.com, then you can win it.

Nobody is searching for only shopping. There's zero user intent.

When you're searching for a new ford mustang do you search for the keyword car?

Your conversion rate would be 1 in a billion.
