High rankings are always grand....

... but did you know penalties can happen for unexpected reasons?

Things like:

#1 Backlinks for Websites in Another Language

#2 Broken Links

#3 Hidden Links

and more - I found this out today over at

http://www.business2community.com/se...nalty-01593761

Google has an updated How To Make Google Like You at

http://static.googleusercontent.com/...rter-guide.pdf

(don't be daunted by the size!).

So if you're considering ranking well....

... checking the above might be wise indeed.

Enjoy!

I'd got hit in the past by negative seo. I was tempted to hit back but instead I realized that this would only bring bad results for the both of us.

Instead, I built better links for myself, stronger ones and I improved my content's quality. If you establish yourself as the real deal in the niche, negative SEO could be hard to bring down.

In fact, if you truly deliver high quality content negative seo might backfire to the "bad" person and bring you up.

At least, this is what I did, but it truly sucks to see someone else to use shady techniques, it's sad.

        i think it's sad, too.

However, i'm tempted right now with a top500 company who think i'm an idiot
they dont pay my commission for the last 5 months + even their billing is false,
they just want to cheat me sideways, basically.

Now i ask you: What can a poor guy really do about it?

        Almost nothing.

Except: for me its not about the money,

        its the principle

it will be a underdog vs major player fight

and remember that underdogs always win that game,
because they never saw them coming...

        Mel Gibson: Payback

watch that flic and tell me: was it worth it to take
        down the syndicate?

        Heck yeah!

        it was fun!

#1 Backlinks for Websites in Another Language
Completely wrong, not even remotely true.

Most sites that target global niches/keywords have global backlinks.

The internet doesn't stop at your country border.

    #2 Broken Links
A broken link is not a penalty.

If a webmaster has control over something (example broken links) it's their fault If they screw it up. Fix the link/s.

    #3 Hidden Links
    Hidden links don't cause penalties.

There's plenty of legit ways that links can be hidden whether they have anything to do with SEO or not. Example, tabs, drop-down navigation, expandable FAQ page questions/answers, etc...

    Even Google hides links (source)...
