Expanding from .CO.UK to .COM, what to do with dupicate content?

OK, I have a question about SEO:
I have a webshop for example Brand Name | Brand Name. My mainkeyword is 'blue jeans'. So I build some ranking and I am ranking at #8 for 'blue jeans' in google.co.uk and at #63 for 'blue jeans' in google.com. (I also am the owner of Domain Default page - but have not done anything with this yet)
Now I want to expand to the usa. So I bought www.brandname.com and duplicated the .co.uk website. Now my textes are doubled, I guess that's bad? So what do I need to do for best SEO?
Do I need to forward the .co.uk domain > to the .com domain, so I can benefit from the ranking I already built? Or do I need to write new textes and start from the bottom with the .com domain? Because there will always be some kind of duplication of the textes.
Any advise is welcome!
