hi there everyone i was wondering if anyone is ever ranked 100000 as everytime i get ranked into a keyword im on the first 2 pages

the reason i asked is that i am ranked for lots of 2 word keywords
but the single keyword i am no where to be seen can anyone give me some advice to get the single keyword??

edited there is only 3,500.000 ranking for the single keyword.

    Hi Owen,

    Ranking for any term - whether it's a one word term or an eight-word string - depends almost entirely on the anchor text in your backlinks (hence the famous "click here" SERP #1).

    Keep in mind that a one word term will usually be much tougher to rank for and require a much longer time/money investment in backlinking than a multi-word phrase.

    IMO, target one well researched keyword and just go after that. Diluting your efforts with too many different backlinks for one site slows down forward progress. That said, remember that Google ranks pages, not sites, so you can (and should) go after different terms with different pages on your site in the same backlinking process.
