I am now woking on SEO for my niche site. Some expert suggests me that I need to create mostly Dofollow backlink for ranking my site in Google. But I can't find which site can give Dofollow backlinks. Recently I increasing backlink by commenting different blogs related to my niche. But I found that all the links are Nofollow. I am afraid about this situation so need help from SEO experts.

1. How can I understand which type of link will give to my site before commenting a site?

2. What is the negative effect of Nofollow backlinks?

3. Should I remove those Nofollow links from my site?

Please, experts, are requested to solve my recent problems. I will be grateful.

you notice rel html tag in the links above? Both the links having nofollow keyword in their real tag, which means they are nofollow links. Even though nofollow link does not pass any link juice, it helps you to bring traffic towards your web-site, so if you are making No follow links then there is no harm. Google does not follow these links, however, other search engines respect them.

This link is dofollow, generally when you left comments on other site, you will see links with rel external feature, is just to represent that the link is external, it has nothing to do with backlink type. If you find no rel attribute in link, then also its being treated as a dofollow link.

If you have only dofollow links then its is harmful for your site. Maintain a ratio of 7:3 of Dofollow and Nofollow.

Always comment on high DA sites so that they can pass high quality link juice to you.

Thanks but I have created ratio Dofollow: Nofollow = 1: 10 . Now understand that was a mistake. So what should the next?

Should I delete some Nofollow links or increase Dofollow? even any else solution pleases to be know.

Are you honestly in the United States?

That answer is one of the funniest, lamest, idiotic ones I have seen in quite a while. In fact, you win first prize!

That's high praise due to the overwhelming competition among those who post complete nonsense replies.

First, get yourself a plugin that highlights nofollow links so that you know which websites are nofollowing links and which ones are not. Just do a search for your browser (Chrome, Firefox) and "nofollow links" and you'll find a browser extension. Here is the link to one that you can use with Chrome - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...er-info-dialog

There is no negative effect from no-follow links because, well, they aren't followed by search engines and they give you no SEO boost. We don't intentionally go after websites with no-follow links unless it is a site related to our niche that can send us TRAFFIC that might be interested in out products.

Finally, you mentioned that you were wanting to know this so that you can figure out what blogs to drop links on with comments. You might be able to do that once in awhile if the link you provide provides value that is very relevant to the article. In most cases, though, people are spamming blogs with totally unrelated links, which, if the blog is moderated, will almost certainly get removed. Also, comment links on blogs provide practically zero SEO value because search engines know that they are easy to place, yourself. If you have too many of them, your site can definitely get penalized.

    First understand the problem...

There is absolutely no such thing as a DoFollow backlink.

A backlink (hyperlink) either does, or does not, carry the rel=nofollow tag.

If a link does NOT include the rel=nofollow tag, then the link IS followed by the search engines and passes PR through the link.

If you want to rank a page, these are the links you want.
Don't go chasing no-followed links, they will occur naturally if your content is good enough.

"1. How can I understand which type of link will give to my site before commenting a site?"

Use the NoDoFollow add-on extension for Firefox.

"2. What is the negative effect of Nofollow backlinks?"

You are wasting your time, which would be better spent getting good quality links.

"3. Should I remove those Nofollow links from my site?"
Only if they are linking to spam(my) sites

Why are you thinking so much about SEO?
Blog commenting is a good way to stay in touch with other bloggers and their readers.
When I post a comment below an interesting blog post, I don't care whether my nickname is dofollow or nofollow. And I get some traffic.
Maybe, you should switching from thinking of blog commenting as the way to get only backlinks, but nothing more?

I agree. Too many people allow Google to fog up their thinking with all the SEO nofollow/dofollow. It's best to just use common sense and comment on sites that are relevant in some way to your niche - and that look like they have some type of quality to them. Otherwise, don't sweat it!

And quiet as it's kept, I believe nofollow and dofollow links both hold some weight in SEO, regardless of what you've been fed or what Google wants you to think. The truth nowadays is that most sites are going nofollow. So to think that none of these relevant links and signals will count for anything is a tainted belief I do believe.

Just like pagerank went out the door, I believe all this nofollow/dofollow shenanigans is going out too and Google will focus more on social signals and other relevancy and authority metrics.

There is no limit when it comes to backlinks and there is no recommended ratio of no follow and do follow links. Its more on the engagements of the links within the users.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[10796471].message }}
  • no follow links are not crawled by the Google bot so there is no harm in having no follow links and also it may bring traffic to your website. do follow links are crawled by Google bot and it helps for ranking purpose.

I commented on one of blog back in 2012 and it still stands true I guess.
"All these Panda, Penguins and others are here to reach the heart of the problem-"intention". Anything you do with intention to help your users or readers you will be rewarded. Anything you do with intention to misguide the crawler then these animals will kick out you. Everything done to bring smile on your users' face is good practice and nothing problematic with that. I suspect that it's less about getting high quality dofollow links and is more about having links back (follow or not) from sites with high trust and high domain authority ratings now, especially from sites relevant to your sites niche.

Nofollow links won't pass on link juice to you but they are still great for your anchor text diversity so don't worry about it. You also need a mix of do/no as well to make your backlink profile look more natural.

Both nofollow and follow links can help you! I take any link I can as long as it's relevant.
However, if I'm paying for links, I definitely only want to pay for follow ones!

  • It is still good to get nofollow links, as they can bring traffic to your site if placed on sites that have a lot of traffic. However, these types of links will not help to increase your rankings. There is no need to really worry about them unless they are placed on spammy, bad neighborhood sites.

To really understand what is going on with follow vs. no follow links, we need to provide a bit of background about how most links work in the realm of SEO. When a site page gets an inbound link, which is a hyperlink pointing to that page, the page gets a small SEO boost.
A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page's favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn't help a page's placement in the SERPs. No follow links get no love. Theirs is a sad and lonely life.

    Dofollow baclinks
Search engine crawlers crawl the whole content on your webpage, including images, links, keywords etc. Anytime they find a link, if the link is dofollow link, then the crawlers follow the link and land on another webpage. If you want to get listed in Google and rank high on Google then you have to focus on these dofollow backlinks.

    Nofollow backlinks
Nofollow backlinks are ignored by search engine crawlers. Whenever you are linking to any web-site which is not of high value then use rel="nofollow" feature in your html of the webpage.

How do you maintain any kind of ratio when any site can link to yours without even telling you they did.

Google your site. You'll that many whois and website value sites have linked to it, using nofollow links.

No you have not. Nofollow tells Google not to pass juice or anchor text. It does nothing else.

Don't go out of your way to create nofollow links. Create links because they're followed or because they'll bring traffic (which means it doesn't matter whether they're nofollow or not).

If a link is set to nofollow, it means Google bot won’t crawl the link and won’t pass any link juice. This is how nofollow links look:

    2. There is no negative effect of No Follow backlinks instead it will maintain your positivity in SEO because if you only build Dofollow backlinks it will consider as an over link Building.
    3. Don't you think of, it will impact your Ranking. Remove backlinks with high spam score.

Adam2Smith, first of all - you'll need to concentrate not to get DO follow or No follow links or to get the right proportion of DO/NOt follow links, etc.

    Please concentrate on quality.
You have to get only hi-quality backlinks. Keep in mind "the best quality".
That's it (in the fact you'll need to understand how to determine: which link is "good" and which is "bad", but it is the another theme).

Get as many hi-quality backlinks as you could get.
