Duplicate titles and descriptions with Yoast SEO for WordPress

Hello, guys! I faced an issue with duplicate titles & descriptions and can't figure out how to fix it.

Here's the details: Google Search Console shows me a few pages with these issues:

They come from my homepage pagination: I have a 'Latest posts' widget on my homepage and a pagination buttons under it. When you click on a button '3', for example, you go to the page like domain.com/page/3.
The problem is, it's a separate page, but Google can't understand that.

Now, in past I made a mistake in Yoast SEO for Wordpress configuration: I deleted %%page%% from all the titles. That parameter actually tells Google that the pagination on the page works as a separate page and creates nice titles like 'NAME. Page 1 of 3.'

But I spotted the mistake (learned from SEO Yoast guide) and corrected it. Now the titles have %%page%% parameter:

And for category pages (when you open a category archive with a pagination) it works, the titles include 'Page 3 of 5'. But for my home page where I have pagination, the title is the same for all pages, no 'Page 3 of 5' included.

Did anyone face the same problem and find a solution? I'd appreciate your advice.

Honestly, there are so many bugs like this related to WordPress and plugins, we stopped using WordPress for any eCommerce websites and use real shopping carts like 3DCart because it does not have any of these pagination or canonical issues.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I just have a blog, not selling anything, monetizing via AdSense. So it makes sense to build it using WordPress.

Hi bartolomeywong, at the YOAST SEO Plugin for Wordpress you can set the pages to nofollow, this is in the settings specifically for the case you have developed. You can read about it in the Instructions of the free Wordpress YOAST SEO Plugin. (Beside some errors it is a really great plugin and it works like a charm)
