Adsense problems.. please help

I've been running Adsense on my sites for quite a few years now; never have been involved with suspicious activity.

For 2 days now, my ads stopped showing up on one of my sites, but without any notification whatsoever. The ads are fine on all my other sites; it's just my main one that's having the problem.

From my computer it just shows blank space instead of the ads; from other computers it shows "this page cannot be displayed" where they should be displayed.

I've contacted support only to be answered with a standard answer;

any idea what this may be?

Thanks,
Flavius

Your symptoms lead me to think it on your server vs Google.

You say Suspicious. Based on what?

What type of site is it? WP or _____

What is the theme of the site? This happened to me several years ago on a site I ran that was making good Adsense money. All of a sudden the ads stopped with no explanation.

Adsense finally got back to me and said it was because they didn't allow ads for that content. It was about BB guns. Nothing illegal, but Google is in California and is run by some seriously Liberal folks. They arbitrarily decided that BB guns were too close to handguns, I guess. So they cut it out.

The funny and infuriating part is that they kept taking Adwords advertisers for BB guns, but they only showed them on the search network. LOL I pointed out this obvious hypocrisy, but they ignored it.

I would press Adsense support for a reason if you rule out something on your end.

Wouldn't they serve PSA's if there was an issue of prohibited content?

They didn't back when this happened to my site. This was around 2004, so it may not be applicable now. It just showed a "Page Not Found" error.

Julian, it's a poetry website! No wordpress plugin, it's some basic html and some php that I myself coded.

I say suspicious - never have been into any of it.. based on the fact that I always avoided anything that may lead to a penalty.

about my server.. what could be the problem if the other sites hosted on the same server still show up ?

Zeus, as I said, poetry is the main theme - love poetry, friendship poetry and many other(30 categories)

    Julian, no! NO PSA ads..

Liberal, or just plain wacky? Years ago, they disallowed ads on one of my sites because it had "adult content." No porn, no links to porn, not even pictures of women (or men) in swimsuits. That was my most profitable AdSense site too. Those were some high-paying clicks.

I mean, I understand that they may not approve of certain content, but it doesn't make sense that they'll run ads for certain types of content but won't let the ads run where the content matches? It's like it's okay for them to make money on those things but not us.

Are any love poems too "adult"?

Sometimes you never know with Google. I have the opposite problem on one of my sites; ads show but they never count. I know the site gets traffic, but AdSense never shows any impressions. And you'd think that, in a year's time, at least one person would have clicked an ad, but clicks never show either.

Hopefully were not looking at a new AdSense Slap. Though, a few months ago people were talking about a YouTube Slap and it almost seemed liked it was a bunch of hype. You know what, I wonder how long this love hate relationship will continue with Google. We love em because they make us money, we hate em because they don't let us make money. Arrgggh!

I don't know. They sent me a message with examples of the pages that they didn't like, which were the most-read articles. I didn't see the sense in deleting the most requested pages, so I just let AdSense drop that site. I went a different route and sold links instead. Ha ha! Google doesn't like that either, but they pushed me into it.

    I see.
However, I didn't receive any notification at all..
should this mean it's rather an error more than a possible ban?

I would think they would (or should) notify you if they pull ads from your site, but who knows with Google sometimes.

I would lean toward maybe an error, but you just never know.

If you're getting "page cannot be displayed" messages, I would lean more toward error. As I recall, when they yanked AdSense from my site, all that displayed was a blank white space, no message at all anywhere.

Are all your sites on the same server/ip? (trying to rule out if it is communication issue)

I did have a problem once where ads we not displaying correctly(ie blank). I created a new ad block and that seemed to fix it. Not sure if it fixed it or it was a coincidence.

        Hi Flavius,

There are certain words that will trigger a blocking of AdSense ads to your page. I don't know all of them, but they include words like the following:
        • death
        • funeral
        • rape
        • murder
        • killing
        • disaster

I'm sure there are plenty more, seems that there are certain types of content where it's considered in poor taste to display advertisements.

On one of my sites there were a few pages where AdSense just didn't show up. It lasted for a month and then everything went back to normal.

I would wait for a while and then ask. If there was a problem you would be notified with something like this:
    Hello,

While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as xxxxxxxx.xxx.

Publishers may not place Google ads on pages that violate Google's webmaster quality guidelines (Webmaster guidelines - Webmasters/Site owners Help). While we've included the following excerpts from these guidelines, we recommend that you take the time to review them in their entirety.

    * Make pages for users, not for search engines.
    * Don't employ cloaking or sneaky redirects.
    * Don't load pages with irrelevant words.
    * Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
    * Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank.
    * Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.
    * Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
    * If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

As a result, we have disabled ad serving to the site.

Your AdSense account remains active. However, we strongly suggest that you take the time to review our program policies (https://www.google.com/adsense/policies ) to ensure that all of your remaining pages are in compliance.

      Hi Flavius,

      I'm just seeing empty space.

I do see a couple of ad stop trigger words on your page, namely funeral and death. I would suggest that to be a likely cause. They won't even serve PSA ads when those words trigger an ad delivery stoppage. I had a similar situation and after I removed the trigger words and waiting 4 or 5 days the ads reappeared.

flavius333, it looks like your Privacy Policy is not up to snuff for displaying Adsense ads. If you recall, Google sent out notices to all Adsense account holders requesting us to update our Privacy Policies. This update was to include an option allowing surfers to opt out of the advertising tracking. I don't see that option on your site. The Big G is yanking Adsense Ads from sites they catch they have not updated their PP.

Below is a snippet of exactly what Google is looking for, you're welcome to use freely as it covers all of the areas they want to see in a Privacy Policy for sites with Adsense.

      Third Party Advertising Companies
PLEASE NOTE: this website uses third-party advertising companies to serve ads when visiting this site. These third parties may collect and use information (but not your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, you can visit Google's Advertising and Privacy page.

If you wish to opt out of Advertising companies tracking and tailoring advertisements to your surfing patterns you may do so at Network Advertising Initiative.

Google uses the Doubleclick DART cookie to serve ads across it's Adsense network and you can get further information regarding the DART cookie at Doubleclick as well as opt out options at Google's Privacy Center.

Hello everyone, Seems to be having thesame problems

I have an Adsense blog, even though Google ads are displayed and I am getting impressions/stats in Google Analytics and other stats monitoring tools. I know i get visitors to my page, but these are not showing in my Adsense stats. Could this be due to the template i use. I am using "Prosense" following advise i got from a thread on this forum.

Crew Chief, thanks for the heads up!

When I view tube pans, it is showing relevant ads, except in i.e on the privacy policy page it shows a few non-related ones. I wonder why you were getting so much junk?

Here's what my adsense header code looks like (I took out the publisher id...)

            <script type="text/javascript"><!--
            google_ad_client = "pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxx";
            /* 728x90, created 8/29/09 */

            src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
            </script>

I'm using Athaulpa theme and I'm not sure what this means?

Should the Javascript code be in an external file, or inline in the header of each page? Same considerations apply as above.
Should it be set to inline or external?

On the issue of your Adsense Ads not displaying in IE, I'm still seeing the double right arrow >> in your Adsense coding in your source code?

              Just to confirm,

(1). In FF go to, VIEW and then PAGE SOURCE, scroll down until you find your Adsense Pub ID, when you locate that, drop down "eight" lines until you see this:
              src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
              </script>>
You should see the double arrows.

(2). In FF, look at the ads in the header and to the right side of the ads you should see a ">" that should not be there.

Take those to steps and see what you come up with.

What about your meta tags? I had an experience once where I was just playing around testing some designs, and I loaded up the meta tags with keywords to see if I could get the ads I wanted to show up. They showed up for a while, then disappeared - blank like you said.

The content was fine, but I think the problem was I was too repetitive with my use of keywords in the meta tags. Could this be a factor?

Start testing so you can report the findings, start at the top of your page and start taking words out untill you find the problem ie. keywords, description, alt tags, then put some breaks between your img and the adsense script and so forth. I would also do some reading about keywords, infact you could take most of those out. Infact Google is probably pretty confused about what to show on your site there is alot of information not all about poems.

I looked at your site and at the moment, this seems to be the only thing sticking out. In your current Privacy Policy, the average Joe Blow or Mary Jane, is going to read this... "You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information on their practices as well as for instructions about how to opt-out of certain practices..."

...and go, "HUH?" Where do they go to opt out? Should they go to Google? Should they go directly to each individual website of the ad(s) they don't won't displayed? Google clearly spells out what they want the surfers to see on all PPs displaying Adsense Ads.

What should I put in my privacy policy about the DoubleClick DART cookie?

      https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...=cb&lev=answer

      Hope that helps!

      /friendshippoems/
      /weddingpoems/
      /anniversary-poems/

      They go to this link:

    Crew Chief,

Those are not popup ads; they are layers inside my html and they've been manually added by me.

    could those be a problem?

    Thanks,

      Hi flavius333,

Have you looked at this issue? I know that this has stopped ads on one of my sites. It frustrated me until I discovered this little known issue:

Google AdSense Stop Words - Poison Words

A few days after I removed the offending words from my page normal ad delivery resumed.

I've been on Jury Duty this past week, wheeew!!!

Flavius333, just checked and rechecked and your site "DOES" have "POPUPS!" I don't know how they are appearing on your screen but I had it confirmed with two other third parties and you have pop ups.

To get the Adsense ads displaying again, I would...

      (a). Remove the Pop Ups
(b). Bring your privacy Policy in-line with Google's parameters

      And that should do it!

    dburk,

this guy says clearly: here are a few possible stopwords which MAY prevent normal ads from being shown and may result in PSas (Public Service Ads).

And at my site no public service ads are shown.
I'm being ghosted. I'm seeing blank space and on some computers page cannot be displayed.

    Thanks,
    Flavius

Crew Chief, I've tried 3-4 computers; still no popups; looked through the html code; nowhere to be found. please describe what you see and where you see it.

p.s. fantastic note ayolov; I tried using a us proxy and I DID SEE MY ADS!
what the hell is this? why do they display so rare? I only get around 200 impressions per day instead of tens of thousands..

    thanks
