What do you guys think, Penguin will ever be released again?

Hi guys,

I was hit with a Penguin penalty a couple years back. It's very obvious, the drastic drop on the day it occurred. I've since learned quite a bit about SEO, link profiles, what a good link is vs. a spammy one, etc., and I've worked to clean up my own link profile. I've also worked on building quality links since then.

I'm waiting for Penguin to be released again so I can be released from the penalty (as it's my understanding that's how it would work). Google said Penguine was going to happen earlier in the year, but never did....

What do you guys think? They're going to release it again?

According to this article in April, it was supposed to be released "soon". It is also supposed to be the last ever Penguin update because they are making it part of their algorithm, so it will penalize sites in real time..

You can not predict it until it's realized by webmasters or announced by Google official. I don't understand why these google updates are going discontinued, these helps great site to rank well and cleanup and refine search result.

They are not going to discontinue Penguin; they are building into the algorithm so that it permanently checks for spammy links all the time.

Right now, it is a special program (filter) that they have to manually run because it is so resource intensive. They have been working on a way to make it a permanent part of their algorithm. They aren't there yet, but they are getting close. So, they are going to run the filter again at some point (soon?) and hopefully get it part of their algorithm soon thereafter.

This, incidentally, is why the people here on WF think that their spammy link building practices work - they actually do right now and have for the past two years because Google has not run the Penguin filter for that long. Once that filter is run again, you'll see sites crashing in the rankings all over the place.
