Blogging and SEO

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to put this out there in hopes of getting some feedback

As far as blogging goes - do you focus on SEO (Search Engine Optimization)? I have a blog currently, and I'm wanting it to be findable via Google, etc. I've heard that SEO is the way to go, but I don't want that to become too tedious to focus on when writing.

What are your thoughts?!

I'd say that you definitely want to focus on SEO if you're trying to keep updating the blog. I don't know how long you've been running it, but blogging is hard work. If you're blogging, you have to like your topic. If you don't, there are much easier ways to make money online.

Focus on providing quality content on your blog as #1. Quality content will always bring readers in. SEO is a good way to get traffic, and also just a good idea if you're going to run the blog for a while. Wordpress has a lot of great SEO plugins if your getting started. Look into basic SEO and work on getting back links (like a simple as commented on related blogs with your link as your website), but don't let this detract from writing good quality content. Content is the most important, don't stress soo much about SEO, just keep it in mind

Yeah definitely! Build links up slowly but surely and you will be in great shape. Blog carnivals, posting comments on forums, and posting comments on blogs are great places to start. Just don't be a spammer, help people out and you will see results Just remember, you don't need to have the perfect SEO'd site right off the bat, learn as you go along and you'll be gold

Yeah just build massive backlinks to your blog to get it first in google...

Optimizing for search engines should by no means interfere with your writing - it deals with what you do after having written things. I mean you shouldn't mechanically insert keywords where they don't belong, just make sure they are where they had better be (titles et al.).
