Hi all,
I have a sitemap submitted to Google with 1000 URLs but just 66 are indexed. Does anybody know why this could happen?
Thanks

Don't rely solely on Google Webmaster data, it's slow at updating and even then won't show 100% of any data source.

    Do a site:domain.com search.

Keep in mind Google has to index/reindex webpages after you make any changes, that takes time depending on how active your backlink profile is or isn't.

You can also Fetch as Google inside Google Webmaster Tools for the sitemap URL to help speed up the process.

Also keep in mind that Google does not always index every single page of a website - especially if there is no unique content on the pages. Site structure and how easy it is to get to your pages also play a part in what gets indexed. Search engines only spend a limited amount of time crawling each website, which is why sitemaps are important - especially on bigger websites.

Here is an article that discusses search engine "crawl budgets". Crawl Optimization

1000 urls, that's quite a lot. How much time did have passed that you have submitted your sitemap? 1000 urls can take quite a some time to get even crawled.

You may give it some time for Google to include in their index, however, don't expect it to index it all. It is very normal that only a certain percentage of pages are indexed. There are various factors why some pages aren't included in Google index.

Don't settled on your submission to Google alone. Engage on other ways will help to speed up tremendously. Make sure your pages visibility are high, ensure there is sitemap at your site, internal linking within your pages, etc. Article submission with backlinks pointing to your internal pages will also help Google to discover your site easily and thus may help to get it indexed faster.
