Hey...

So here's a scenario..

Let's say you have the homepage - (you're not ranking this). In the homepage you have 4 internal links to MONEY pages..

So ex:

Dognation.com (not ranking anything and not planning to).
-> best dog supplies
-> best collar
-> best dog food

Now...

Those 3 INNER money pages...is there a NEED of those linking back to the homepage. And if so, WHY? What's the purpose of that?

I get it if those 3 INNER money pages have an internal link to supporting pages and those supporting pages link back to the 3 INNER money pages. But the homepage, not sure I get why?

Thanks.

    There are many types of silos and if depends on you what kind of silos you want to build. Usually I follow the opposite of what you do. I do link my home page with all supporting articles and then link them back via either sidebars or contextual's here and there.

      So your home page is the money page.
      Yeah it's different for mine. I"m not trying to rank a homepage.Wouldn't there be less of a link juice with sidebars? Typically, I like to disable my side bars, and my menu bar if i have a supporting page. But who knows.

        Yeah I think you usually show a list of articles on your homepage Right?
        When I am starting a niche site what I do is I gather 1 big keyword and 5-6 supporting keywords. Now my homepage consists of bigger keywords with 2000-5000 words article which then links to supporting articles and they ultimately link back too.

    You should link both ways for a stronger website.

    Hold your right forearm with your left hand and try to pull your right arm away.

    Now hold both forearms with the opposite hands and try to pull the forearms away. Much harder right?

    Google loves stronger sites like this as its easier for them to navigate.

    Also don't forget to link to new posts from older posts not just from new posts to older posts.
