I'm reading an SEO guide and it's saying that the first thing to do is:

Crawl your site with Screaming Frog

K I'll do that if I need to, but do I need to if I already have WMT? Doesn't already tell me everything I need to know?

What do you think? Thanks!

Yes, run Screaming Frog on the site, fix the errors.

Webmaster Tools doesn't show all the data for any site. The data they do show is usually slow at updating or even outdated (ex: SERP positions, errors, etc...).

Search Consol data are often with delayed and sometimes they are not up to date. Search Consol data come from maps presented by a XML file, and sometimes these pages you will not find with SF.

Use them both and fix what either points out.

Using tools like A1 Website Analyzer or similar can in a few minutes (or hours depending on your website size) show you all the errors in your website - and often in a way much faster to inspect.

In essence, you can then let Google Webmaster Tools only report issues caused by external links.
